Natty
Ok- I feel like a lil rant so here it goes... last night I saw the exorsist at the movies (that being the directors cut) I wanted to go coz I was in the mood for a good scare and since I have never being to an R rated movie before I wanted to go, anyway's onto the important stuff I came out of the cinema feeling rather dissapointed, maybe it was the lack of special effects that made the movie not scary, but even in the so called "scary bits" I found myself laughing terribly- then again so was the rest of the cinema- I wonder if it's any reason why? Seeing a 12yo masturbating with a crucifix (well she wasn't really, it looked more like she was stabbing herself down there) and then telling her mum to lick her down there? Ahem... that's supposed to be scary? and then she tells the priests to fu*k her up the a$$? Yes lovely lil sl*t isn't she? maybe that's why she became a porno star (so I'm told- I dunno who she was) Me thinks the devil was feeling a lil frisky and was definatly lacking in sex Personally, I don't really get what the whole deal with the necklace was either, too many bits were missing thus making me a lil confuzzled as to what was going on- other than cute lil innocent girl turns into a wh*re coz she's possesed and mummy dearest wants the devil exorsised from her- yes all good and well, but why did the devil pick her? who was the person that decided to possess this poor innocent lil girl? was it Mr whatshisname? The guy who she talks to on the Oujie board? (and bugger the spelling) Overall though I have to rate this movie a 8.5 outta 10, just for it's sheer comical scenes ------------------

Guest Brighteyesmonkey
The Exorcist was a sick and derannged film. The director must have been some sort of Pshycotic Freak! ------------------
DiScO StU
you know, does anyone here think grim fandango would make a good movie, like it`ll be one of those completely 3d animation, like toy story, ants, ect.... i mean the story would need extention, and puzzles would have to be cut out, you know the cutscenes it`ll like that, and i think the demons, example glottis would need need an improvement in graphics, was it just me or did some demons look kinda sloppy, but i`m not complaining cause grim fandango is the best game ever, and i don`t know it had a pretty good story/plot to it. Tull
You've got to bear in mind that The Exorcist was made in the early 70s. Back then, this was much scarier and grusome as special effects and depicted horror were in their relative infancy.
Rufio
heh EVERYONE makes fun of the exorcist in tv sitcoms and other wannabe scary movies. ------------------ STILL the resident punk rocker! Stop pretending that you don't want me.
StarEye
Hmmm... I don't see what's wrong with this movie? It's a classic! Let's compare with a computer-game... About 10 years ago, a game called Elvira - mistress of the Dark. For that time, it would be worthy a 18 years certificate. Nowadays when you play games like Residen Evil and Silent Hill, you get just about the same effect out of the game as with Elvira 10 years ago. But try playing Elvira today, and see if you still find it scary? I don't think so. By the way, I don't know if I'm correct, but I feel there's a difference between a psychological scaring movie and a physical scaring movie. A physical scaring movie (with a lot of blood, gut, gore and/or special effect like in The Excorcist) doesn't necessarily scare you that much psychologically (you know, like Silent Hill compared to Residen Evil?) It's a pretty old movie. Try looking at other movies from that time and compare them, not with todays movies.

MegaMonkey
Very true. I was going to reply this when this was a new thread, but I didn't have time. Now I just reply with: I thought Excorsist was really scary. That is, because I am afraid of spirits and such. I hate the atmosphere in Excorsist, because I'm afraid of the darkness and things that don't exist... ------------------
Natty
Maybe it's coz I love a scary movie when it's got to do with ghosts n crap, but I can't stand the blood and everything, which is why I refuse to watch them, although I saw Hannibal and I was fine through that- maybe I'm over coming my fear of blood and guts and ewwwwie stuff and maybe I can finally go revisit Elm street and the lil clown thingo that lives in the drain with the balloon that looks like a heart 1 movie I refuse to watch ever again is Pet Cemetary- I was scared of my dog for weeks after seeing that ------------------
