MasterRoss08
Since poverty was brought up in several other threads why not bring it up in its own thread so we dont have to go to other threads to bring out are points. Ill start us off with 2 sides of an argument on ' Should we help the poor ' and follow up on my own oppinion or I will take a side. maybe both Argument 1 I shouldnt help the poor because I feel as though I dont owe this person anything. He got him/herself in this predicament why should I help this person since I didnt involve myself in getting them in this predicament. Argument 2 I feel as though I should help this person or persons due to there terrible situation they are in I feel as though I should give them a hand to help them survive and give them a feeling of that there are people that do care of what there situation they are in and want to help them in a way get out of there particualr situation. My stance or stances I should say: I have a believe stance whatever you wanna call it that I should help this person or persons in this horrible predicament to ease there problem and to help them if I can get out of there predicament. Some can say I have a Help thy Neighbor approach on this which I dont mind I would actually agree on that. I feel as though no one should be in this situation. Its a horrible situation that a lot of people are in and no one should have to experiance this situation but since people due I feel as though I should help this person or person in anway I can to help ease there problems. Ill follow up on another argument on the poor but lets keep to this one for now. Now what say you?
Dagobahn Eagle
This is going to turn into a debate on whether or not the Welfare System is a good idea or not. Helping the poor and keeping businesses in check is absolutely necessary. It helps people get back on their feet, get an education, get themselves work, and tend for themselves. The only problem is how to prevent people from taking advantage of the system. I know many, many people who would not be anywhere near where they were today without welfare handouts. Very few of them are what you'd call lazy. This friend of mine, aged 21, goes to school, has a part-time job, and receives welfare money. She suffers from a lung disease similar in symptoms to asthma, only a good deal worse. She wouldn't be able to go to school and re-take the subjects she subjects she needs to graduate without welfare money (Heck, she's barely able to do it with the welfare money). MasterRoss08
Thats some sad stuff there dude. The system was originally meant to assist people when they lost there jobs to get back on there feet and hopefully get another decent job. In my state I would guess people can only takeadvantage of it for so long. My father was on welfare for a time and they onlysupported him for only 12 months I think it was. Im not sure but im pretty sure states have there own rules when it comes to welfare. I think one major problem with the poor is the people that dont give a hoot what situation there in which I guess can turn some poeple against helping there fellow people. Because these people are only taking advantage of the kind people that want to assist these people instead of trying to improve there situation by trying to get out of it. I would atleast want to see people that are in this situation to atleast try and get out of it by getting educated and hopefully get a decent job to help them get back on there feet.
