Maybe that's the reason? Me using nVIDIA 6800 GS and using the nvodngov19291-[Guru3D.com] driver and not the 93.71_forceware_winxp2k_english_whql driver from nVIDIA . Uninstall your current ones, grab the new ones from Nvidia and make sure that you have updated your direct x9c - use the version on the CD with the game.
