Kyrk
Ok, what are they? What are they for? How do you make one? How do you use one? Will they help with light-emitting textures? Questions questions questions, answers please
Inyri
Ok, what are they? They are text files. What are they for? They change the way textures are displayed. How do you make one?Notepad is a good option. How do you use one?You direct the shader to the texture you want, then put the shader in the shaders folder. This makes more sense when you understand how shaders work, which takes some practice. Will they help with light-emitting textures? They don't help with light-emitting textures, they create light emitting textures. Now I gather you're going to have some more specific questions, now that I answered the basics, so fire away.
Kyrk
Thanks! So, how does someone know what to write in order to create certain effects? Is there some website or something that has each individual effect written out, or if you learn how to make a shader are the rest kinda self-explanatory? SMoKE
Look in the core-files of GtkRadiant (C:\Program Files\GtkRadiant-1.# or something by default), there you will see another folder called "Q3AShader_Manual". Open it, and execute index.html within it.
