Hi kunai, you actually weren't very far from some useful tuts, try this link if you need further assistance:

http://www.lucasforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=595

P.S. Try reading through some of the tuts in this forum section - i assure you they are good and are from various well known modders in the community. For further help, try asking some modders in teh forums for help. Out of a hat, some good ones are: Darth Moeller, RedHawke, Darth333, tk122, Achilles or Pavlos.

Hope my rants are any use to yah! Good Luck in your modding adventures kunai!

i was wondering if someone knows how to look up the texture file for a_robe_08 in kotor tool.

This is determined by two fields in the UTI file: The base item and TextureVariation. a_robe_08.uti uses Base item 35 (Jedi Robe); look at this line in baseitems.2da in the bodyvar column. It has the value set to i, which is the suffix letter used for the model and tex columns in appearance.2da, where the model and textures are set.

So, open appearance.2da and look at one of the player appearance lines (their labels start with P_MAL for male models and P_FEM for female), and check the value in the texi column. This is the base name of the texture file (PMBI for the male model and PFBI for the female). Now add the (two-digit) TextureVariation number from a_robe_08.uti to the end of the filename, and you end up with PFBI04, which is the name of the texture file (PFBI04.tpc) for this robe.
