Cleaning Up Mods?

I think is a simple question and wanted to verify.

Do mods make any changes outside of the override directory? I don't think it does so if I just delete everything in the override directory is that the same as an uninstall and reinstall or is it just safer to go ahead and uninstall/reinstall?

Thanks!

While you wont need to re-install if you clear out the override directory, you will have to start new save games. That's about it.

See when you enter an area or pick up an item this loads into your save game so if you remove said mods and try to load your game, while basic items will still work, anything with a custom model or skin can cause your game to crash if the files aren't present in your override.

Thanks for the info. I can use the save games if I reinstall the mods where my character has a custom item right?

For example, I'm using your prestige class stuff and my save games I'm sure has some of that stuff and I'm planning on restoring your mod so those saves should be fine.

However, I also have some other saber mods that I looked at but never kept the items in the character inventory.

Correct.

That would be ok as long as you don't have the modded items in your invantory you should be fine in removing the item mod. The worst that can happen is if you remove the saber mod and try to place one of the remaining crystals in a saber and you can end up with an error item or more euphamistically called a 'null' grenade. ;)
