spyblade
I am wondering if it would be possible to make a mod that allows for two independent parties with two PC characters in the game. Not multiplayer. Sorry, that sounds kind of confusing. What I would like to do (eventually!!!) is make a mod that would change the story and most of how the game develops. Specifically, a player would start the game as normal, at some point the story would switch, and the player would create a new character. The first party would continue as normal, the second party would progress differently -- the idea for the second party is bounty hunters on the tracks of Revan. (Even though (s)he is presumed dead, there would be a a squad of bounty hunters on Revan's tracks.) Basically, is it possible to have a PC Revan and party... AND a PC bounty hunter party in the same game. The stories would happen at the same time, but the player would switch between them on the Ebon Hawk (or some computer terminal). Can Kotor recognize two PC parties (one player, not multiplayer) and keep them separate? And allow you to switch back and forth? Thanx
L0rdReV@n88
i doubt it but its a very fun sounding idea
stoffe
You can't create more than one character using the character creation screen at the start of the game, so that part could most likely not be done. The game can only handle one player character. The other parts should be doable, if you can settle for letting the player to control pre-made characters on the second party. You can use a special holding area/module for group switches where the party that's currently not in use will be stored until it's time to switch back to them again. Remove the party members from the party table but keep the instances around in the game world in this area. Then grab the instances of the second party that are stored in the area and add them to the party table instead. For the second group switch the main character to one of the NPCs (this removes the player character from play), like during the Leviathan Rescue or the party member solo adventures/Dxun Tomb sequences in KOTOR and TSL. It will require some party table juggling but having two separate groups active in one game should be doable as long as the leader of the second group is a premade character. spyblade
Thanks for the quick responses. Since the "Bounty Hunter" PC has to be a premade main character, would it be possible to create many different options of main characters that a player could choose from and then throw the rest into the metaphorical wastebasket. For instance, here are some PC options (keep in mind that I'm not sure what the exact scores you can have -- math ): Level 1 Male (Caucasian Head 2) Scoundrel Str 10 / Dex 16 / Con 10 / Int 14 / Wis 12 / Cha 12 Scoundrel Feats + Two Weapon Proficiency Level 1 Female (Asian Head 4) Scoundrel Str 12 / Dex 14 / Con 12 / Int 16 / Wis 10 / Cha 10 Scoundrel Feats + Two Weapon Proficiency Level 1 Male (Asian Head 4) Scoundrel Str 10 / Dex 16 / Con 10 / Int 14 / Wis 12 / Cha 12 Scoundrel Feats + Dueling etc. through Scoundrel, Scout, and Soldier classes It would be a long list of PC options, and there would be some combinations overlooked I'm sure, but would it be possible. Or maybe this could be a way to customize a party from selectable bounty hunters.... Any way, is any of this possible? Thanx
stoffe
Since the "Bounty Hunter" PC has to be a premade main character, would it be possible to create many different options of main characters that a player could choose from and then throw the rest into the metaphorical wastebasket. You could make a dialog or computer display where the player can pick between a number of character choices and then spawn in the corresponding character and add it to the party. When you switch between parties you'll need to make the game keep track of the party XP for each group and adjust the XP accordingly when toggling between groups. Otherwise both would end up with the same XP progression. (If it's for KOTOR 2 you'd need to manually keep track of Influence like this as well, since it's stored for party table slots and not individual NPCs.) spyblade
Well, I'm positive this is beyond my scripting ability at the moment (as I don't really have any). But I will be attempting to learn and figure out how this will work. Slowly, no doubt ; but I'm glad that this is possible. Thanks a many. SPOILER ALERT -- should have probably said this in the first post Another idea (maybe more doable -- shorter, at least) might be an in game flashback/dream sequence where you actually play thru -- though I don't how this would affect your player if you died. Especially if it was a flashback . Is there a way to create a character that is almost identical to the PC in appearance but not necessarily classes, abilities, or feats. Is there a way to find out the PC's appearance.2da line with scripting? Also the Jedi class? Then make scripts that pick from the group of player characters to match appearance and jedi class? If this is possible, would it be possible to bring up a computer screen that allows you to modify your ability points (possibly with the same calculation that goes into the character creation at the beginning of the game)? Is there a way to grant feats through scripting through the same computer console? -- Basically create a character through a computer console.... so many questions sorry if these are frequently asked.
