raVen_image
I know that there are games that are (self-proclaimed) RPGs...but the concept really doesn't work with a computer, does it?. Even if the game is multiplayer...there is something lost when assuming a role online...it lacks TRUE interaction. Or, if the RPG does exist...then it really applies to ALL games, doesn't it? Haven't we all been Guybrush, Manny, Gabriel and Grace, and so on. Don't we ALL assume a role when we play? I suppose I didn't answer because I can't think of ten GOOD games... Blondbeard
RPG's are games like Zelda and Final Fantasy.Speaking of Final Fantasy i was at the cinema the other day watching tomb raider and i saw a preview of Final Fantasy and the graphics looked F'n Awesome. ------------------ Forums Against Oil Filters
raVen_image
Yes,you assume a role in those games...but that is no different than any other game, adventure, first-person-shooter, (to some degree)strategy...all these paradigms ask you to become someone else, for the sake of the story. THAT is what Role Playing means. Being concerned with stength, stamina, dexterity...all that that comes with the typical RPG...has nothing to do with playing a different character from yourself. So..ALL games are really RPGs. Unless... Unless you include interaction with others...something that is almost synomymous with TRUE RP games...I happen to be this. So for me...RPG does not really exist for the computer. [This message has been edited by raVen_image (edited July 19, 2001).]
storken
well, RPG's are based on RolePlaying, so I guess that's why they called so... ------------------ "the storks are listening"
