McD-Z
Hi all, I just recently bought KOTR 1 and I was wondering if anyone had some general advice for my first run through of this game. Specifically, what are the advantages to playing each of the 3 starting classes? Typically I prefer a soldier-type character, but the general consensus on these boards is that scouts are better/more interesting to play. Also, which of the attributes will I find advantageous? Strength, dexterity, etc...Any help would be appreciated!
Allronix
It depends on your play style. Soldiers - Short-changed in terms of skills. You'll need more computer spikes, parts, and medkits to get the jobs done, or be relying heavily on characters like Mission. They also have the lowest chance of unlocking HK-47's goodies. (A repair of 20 is about what's needed). Scouts strike a balance between combat and skills. Being the old West End player I am, I tend to go with Scoundrel. You don't get a lot of HP, and you have to be careful with your feats (or find yourself items that help). The upside is that you can slice computers, pick locks, fix droids, etc. The other advantage is that Scoundrel appears the only one where Persuade is a class skill. Seeing as your PC is the only one who can use Persuade, and that it can get you everything from extra money to solving headaches on your quest, it is VERY handy to have. Char Ell
Welcome to LucasForums, McD-Z. If you like playing soldier-types then that is what you should play. One of the joys of playing KotOR is you can always play a different class the second time through. And third playthrough as well. Actually I believe you would have to play the game through nine times to cover all the class permutations...

If you have the PC version, get the DS Female ending. Very operatic.
McD-Z
Ok...stupid question. I decided to go with the soldier. Now I'm wondering, do the melee specialization feats translate into lightsabers? Or is there a new feat tree for those? Thanks

Thanks It is a new feat tree so you should probably not give those feats to your PC. You could consider giving them to your partymembers though... Allronix
The Melee specialization, no. The melee FEATS like Flurry, Power Attack, and Critical Strike DO translate.
