Seamhainn Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Hello! As mods usually don't have voice overs, I ask all you dialogue modders: how much time do you usually use to display a text line? Thanks and take care
Master Zionosis Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 I don't beleive you can change it when there is no VO, it lasts usually for about 10 seconds until the next line of dialogue appears.
Seamhainn Posted August 28, 2007 Author Posted August 28, 2007 Yes, you can in the Delay field. I just wonder which value modders usually take.
Master Zionosis Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Ohh right, well I don't notice, I don't think that anyone changes it really, I mean some people it takes longer to read the text, where others can speed read. I would leave it at default, that's what I'm doing for an upcoming mod
Seamhainn Posted August 28, 2007 Author Posted August 28, 2007 The default is -1, and if there is no VO the text vanishes instantly! This much I learnd :-) . Sorry, I don't want to sound rude! Thanks and take care
Master Zionosis Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Well, I'm not sure why it's vanishing instantly, whenever I create a new dialogue I never adjust that field and the node disappears after about 10 seconds, if it is doing what you say, just change it from -1 to 10
Seamhainn Posted August 28, 2007 Author Posted August 28, 2007 Actually I took 5 seconds, but that might be to short a time... Thanks
stoffe Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 As mods usually don't have voice overs, I ask all you dialogue modders: how much time do you usually use to display a text line? That depends how long the text you show is. Clock yourself reading the text slowly (to make your mod playable for non-native English speakers) and then put that number of seconds on the node. It's usually better to have the delay slightly too long than too short, since players can skip ahead to the next node by clicking unless you've set the dialog or node to be unskippable. (-1 essentially means "use sound length" as delay value, anything higher than that is delay in seconds before moving on to the next node.)
