Hey, im new to KOTOR Community, it looks like its run by a group of great guys, however i'm not new to modding, i have followed some of the larger modding communities such as half life 2 etc. Anyway, i noticed the one thing they have in common is a reliable way to find and download their mods, now i realise that the majority of KOTOR mods are small tweaks or re-skins, however most of the older links in the forums point to pcgamemods.com which from what i've read u have had problems with recently. To cut a long story short, im an avid starwars fan, have played both kotor through and loved every minute, i've recently got back into playing them, and wanted to seek out some mods for variety. I found loads of cool mods on the forums, and had a hard time tracking down a place to download them! So what im proposing is a website, something like kotor-mods.com or a domain name similar, i have all the resources to setup a website allowing you guys to upload your mods, plenty of webspace, and bandwidth isnt a problem, now i realise this is probably a strange gesture, however im happy to let the community moderators / admins from here take complete control of the site regarding well... moderation or administration lol. I figure the best run mod sites are those powered by the community, and that seems to be what all the other sites hosting your mods lack.

Anyway, it was just a thought, let me know what you think, im off to play KOTOR 2 with your awesome mods, keep up the great work guys ^^

There is already a place like this of which you mention to upload Kotor or TSL mods to located here and here. PCGAMEMODS kept having problems again and again until now the site is completely down and will very unlikely come back again. Setting up a new website would be fine to upoad your own mods or welcome people to upload theirs to the server. Just for the record on LF and Filefront it is heavily frowned upon to upload other people's mods without their permission or to use someone elses mod to create your own without their permission.

PCGameMods used to be such a site, the number one place where people uploaded their creations. It was fast, easy to use and had pretty much everything in one place. Unfortunately it became unstable more than a year and a half ago with frequent crashes and down-time and it seems like the one who was running the site lost interest in it, and now it seems to be more or less permanently down. I guess this is the biggest problem with sites run by a single person. When they lose interest they have little motivation to keep the site running, since they don't owe anyone to keep providing their service forever.

Since PCGM was operational when the KOTOR/TSL modding community was most active many mods created back then are not hosted anywhere else, and are more or less lost now since the people who made them have moved on. Even if some other people still have many of them they can't be uploaded to be hosted elsewhere without the permission of their creator, many of whom can no longer be contacted.

Newer mods released since PCGMs troubles began, or those made by people who are still around, are now generally hosted either at LucasFiles.com, KotorFiles.com or at their personal sites.

Lately KotorFiles.com has been more or less shouldering PCGMs role as the primary host for KOTOR mods. Even though it's not as hazzle-free and easy to use as PCGM was (since you can't upload and manage your own mods there) it seems to be the most reliable option currently available.

LucasFiles.com, which is part of the same network as Lucasforums (these forums) also hosts some mods, though since this site for some reason is incredibly slow to post submitted files (it can take months from you submit them before they appear) it isn't as popular as a hosting option generally.
