DrGustav
I think it would be kind of neat if there was an ancient lightsaber in the game, that when you add a specific crystal combination or have a certain Repair level, will cause it to gain sentience, or perhaps summon the Force Ghost of the previous owner. Perhaps you can talk with it about various NPCs, the history of the Jedi and Sith, or about his former owner(s) and the adventures it had. Perhaps you'll need to convince it to let you wield it in battle from time to time, depending on the opponent you're facing. It could start out with a certain alignment, and as conversations progress you could convince it to take either light or dark side paths, to give the lightsaber different stats as a result. Maybe at the highest level it could hover around by itself and attack opponents on its own, while you're attacking with a different lightsaber. Perhaps the lightsaber could give you different quests as well, to find various components to upgrade it. Or maybe it has its own agenda and is just using you to further it. Perhaps it wants to take over a droid, or possess the owner, or convince you to kill someone, and so forth. Could be evil intentions, or entirely benign. Shadow51689
Well, in TSL, aren't Kreia's 'floating lightsabers' simply like lightsaber NPC's? I haven't really looked into them, but they seem to be selectable/targetable like any creature.
DrGustav
I was hoping for more depth than merely another fighting NPC. In fact, it might just be a tad redundant to have it fighting on its own. It would be even a little amusing to have the lightsaber suddenly gain sentience like the whale from Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and have dialogue options of the PC reacting to this in different ways. There could be a whole sub-plot of trying to educate this new blank-slate being in the ways of the universe. Doing so could lead to wildly different personalities of the lightsaber later on in the game, depending on dialogue choices and character alignment. And consider a surreallity of walking along, minding your own business, when suddenly a dialogue-box opens saying "Your lightsaber looks troubled, perhaps you should speak with it."
