cossack1812
Where the developers really right about making this Star Wars RTS a ground based one? I mean Star Wars is noted for its SPACE battles not its ground battles. Half the units in this game are made up or borrowed from other games (eg, the rebel heavy tank) and why would you bother sending down an army to attack a base, say with a couple of fortresses defending it when you could just call upstairs and let loose an orbital bombardment. Those of you who would use the accuarcy of such a bombardment, look at what Pallaeon says to C'boath when they land on Wayland, "My gunners could level this city without even singeing the grass on Mount Tantis." Granted tho that the only other civ that could do this is the Rebels and maybe the TFs And what would the Wookies need tanks for, they live on Kashyyk Dont get me wrong i will probably end up getting the game and enjoying it it just i think they would have been better off making a fleet command-style game. For those of you who do want one, check out the Home world TC called Star Wars Fleet Acadamy , this will suffix till someone makes a fleet game.http://www.tgu.org.uk/users/swfa/units_info.shtml
Lord JayVizIon
hey cossack, sorry i'm not familiar with SW TC, but is that a new game coming out? or is it a mod pack for xwa? i saw some screenshots and it looks as great as homeworld... in regards to your question, i think they made a good move here. fleet style-like games such as xwing alliance are around, and it may or may not quench your thirst for a fighter game. SWGB is the RTS game based in star wars fantasy that many of us have been waiting for. some units may be displaced in terms of how you'd recognize them from the movies, such as watching r2d2's collecting food, but all in all i like the imagination and innovation they put into this game. granted, we haven't seen all of the civs in action, but it should make for great fun in the near future. Guest Maul403
yeh it sure would be a fun game to sit up in ur star destroyer and bombard stuff.....NOT...why did they not bombard hoth? cause they had a planetary shield making it impossible I mean Star Wars is noted for its SPACE battles not its ground battles. battle of hoth, endor, naboo, ever read the books? this is an RTS not an FPS or flight sim...its meant to have big, fun, ground battles...not captial ships bombard a couple of fortresses...also whats wrong with making up units? isint every thing from star wars made up?? cossack1812
Yes i have read several of the books and about Hoth, The imperials landed their troops because they couldnt breach the sheild. So they land their troops (therefor engaging in a ground battle), but do they establish a base with pre-fab shelters and farms? No, didnt think so And for the Naboo fights, they had those cos they didnt have the technology to really bombard planets cos that only came into widespread with the Imps Lord JayVizIon, SWFA is a total conversion for Homeworld And X-Wing alliance wasnt really fleet based was it, you flew you "snubfighter" against other fighters, what i was talking about was something along the lines of HW but in the SW universe.
