New Head (Zabraak Style) (was: euh...)

If you don't have it and are into doing hex editing, I suggest a program called Hex Workshop. It costs 30 bucks or so, but it makes life so much easier with a comparison of files, as well as copy and past.

I've actually just now gotten all of the white female heads to work with added geometry. The asian and black females are a different story. As you can see, inside their .mdl files in the hex editor they have a completely different setup than the white women. I'm wondering if this is the case for everyone else, or if I have a corrupted file/extraction/KOTOR Tool, whatever.

So, which Hex edits did you use to make the caucasian female heads work ?

Also, were you able to get all of the male heads (asian, black, and caucasian) to work?

It's a little late to answer your question, but for those who stumble across this thread and need the answer here it is. I've written a tutorial on how to add geometry to heads (at least in a very broad sense). I mostly play with TSL now (when I do anything at all) and I haven't touched the female heads in KOTOR since before my last post so I honestly don't remember which female heads worked or what I did to get them to work.

And yes all the male heads in KOTOR I got to work using settokens and Quanon's methods in this thread. TSL is a different story, as I've only played around with one or maybe two different heads, but the same general rule applied.

Better late than not at all, Miro42 :) Thanks for the info. When I get time I plan to restart some work I did on new female heads. Are there any other edited head mods out there that you know of (apart from yours, of course)?

Quick bit of info on this hex method and heads in general - In my attempts to make heads, it seems that you really should NOT add any more objects to the model in general.

Adding geometry to the main Head_Geo seems generally doable, but in my experience, replacing other things (like danglymeshes) has resulted in a stiff, non-animated head.

Also, another thing I *sort of* discovered - if you're having trouble with a female head, you can import the skin using the notepad copy/pasting of this method. Simply copy the text to a different ascii file and recompile. I've gotten it to basically work, but it could probably use a bit of refining and explaining.

Your very welcome. Can't wait to see your work. As far as I know there aren't any more edited heads out there.

Aside from dangly meshes (which I have no idea how they work) there shouldn't be too many problems connecting whatever you like to heads, provided you weight the verts right; and I assume you don't go over the game engine's capabilities.

I'll have to look into that. Thanks for the link!
