The "Please insert the original disc instead of a copy" message.

Hi everyone.

 

I have a problem with my KotOR 1. I've lost the original disc, and I only have a copy installed on my computer. Yesterday, it just worked. One time. Then when i exited, it didn't work. So I ask if it is possible to override the "Please insert the original disc instead of a copy" message?

So the game is still installed on your computer, right? The problem is that the game won't launch using the copied disc? (I assume that's you mean by copy)

The only solution I know of is Xfire. When you run the game through it, it doesn't need the disc to start-up. Only seems to do it for KotOR 1 though. I don't know if it will for you, but it does for me.

It's like AIM or other instant messengers, except made specifically for gamers so you can chat in-game without having to alt-tab out. And yes, it's free. http://www.xfire.com

OKay. I've downloaded and registered mydelf on Xfire. How do I run the game through it?

Tools on top of the application > Launch game > pick KotOR.

 

Make sure Xfire is picking it up. If it doesn't recognize it go to: Tools > Options > Games.
