Trogaodr
I've started playing KOTOR again and currently I've got 2 star maps and at the end of the world I'm currently on. Last night when I stopped playing I saved and such as I usually do any other time but there is a problem. Today, when I clicked on the shortcut and then clicked 'game', it said on the taskbar (the thing on the bottom right of desktop, dunno if its called that xD) 'KOTOR.exe' is corrupt please run CHKDSC or something similar to that. Anyway, trying to ignore it, I continued into my game and loaded my save. I was at Anchorhead and travelled form there to the Sand People Territory with no problems but I tried to save it and BOOM! Game crashed during saving screen. Now, that's happened before so I usually just go and load my game again but this time, it won't. It gets about half-way through the bar, jumps back, and crashes. I ctrl+Alt+Del'd the game and now when I I go to 'Load Game', it's called 'Old Save Game' and a white screen as the screenshot. I try to load it, half-way thorough bar, crash. I had an auto-save, so I tried to load that, same thing. The only working save is my completed save game. More research, I went to the KOTOR folder in Program Files/LucasArts and went to saves. Here were my results: My completed game had all the things it needs, by that I mean the files it needs (can't remember specific names but there is 5 or 6 files) The 'Old Save Game' save has one file called 'SCREEN' The auto-save has all the files, same as completed game. After seeing this, I haven't a clue what to do. I don't really have any knowlegde of the games folders and files since I've never had any problems, edited it, added mods etc. I've put a good 20 hours into that file and I really, REALLY don't want to lose it. Trust me, I've got plenty to do. Once I finished this, I was planning on playing the second, since I only played that thorugh with a light side character with LOTS of missed out stuff. Secrets, making characters into jedi, getting the wookie instead of the scoundrel.... Not to metion my other PC games I've decided to revisit. Star Admiral
If the game crashes during a save, the resulting file is usually unusable. There is no way to figure out what part of the save got saved and what didn't. Unless you have a previous save that you can use, I think it's safe to say you'll need to start over. - Star Admiral
Trogaodr
Hmm...... I guess I could start over, I've played through the game 3 times, light, then dark, now this. But is tehre any changes I could make that will change gameplay a lot? I've always went soldier, I know scoundrel is pretty bad and hard but what about scout? Is it fun to do? Also, I've went male and messed up the relationship with Bastilla every time so I guess I could try scout, female, dark or something. Any other ideas? TheJedi76
Well, go scout because he gets alot of skills, it's a cool class. To create a bigger challenge, try Consular, that will definitely give the game a new feel Try Light male, but maybe look on a FAQ to figure out how to do the love thing with Bastila.
