sparky31290
Ok I know this thread has been posted probably a billions times but I am just so frustrated with it I need some serious help. I've disabled the default security set on my laptop. I have Windows Vista Ultimate. I'm the administrator for sure. I'm the only user on this computer. I don't have any problem playing the game, but the problem is when I try to uncheck the read-only box on any of my files it asks my permission, and I say continue, and it tells me that there was an error. It just won't stay unchecked. What can I do? It's driving me nuts! Thanks ahead to anyone that tries to help.
Da_man
I think you have the wrong thread, but I'll give it a go. Do you have in security byond the default stuff on your laptop, like AVG Antivirus, McAffe, something? I thinking a virus has gotten into your system. I don't think it has anything to do with the game though, unless these files are in the swkotor folder.
Star Admiral
By disable default security set, I assume you mean disable the User Account Control? Did you install the game before or after you disabled UAC? If it is before, you may need to reinstall the game, as disabling UAC will sometimes mess with the settings for already installed games. You can also try to copy the file out of the Program Files folder to your desktop, uncheck the Read-Only flag, and copy the file back. I doubt it is a virus, but you can always run a scan to be safe. - Star Admiral
DarthYuugi
In Vista to activate files you can't do it from the main files ( C > Program Files > Lucasarts > Kotor or Kotor 2 ) When you reach tha check on the top of the folder with a button saying Compatability files Click there and see if you can uncheck them there If not then i don't know what to say except take other peoples advice
