JA install on XP, 1.01 patch = no servers

Hello - have had problems with JA for some time now.

 

after installing the game on a new (XP) machine, I found that after I added the 1.01 patch I could no longer get servers to come up in my "join a game" window.

 

I then had problems uninstalling JA.

 

I ambled on for a long time just playing base JA (aw) but recently created a new partition on my PC especially for JA, installed the game, added the patch - and same again. can't refresh / access the servers.

 

is this a common problem, or a comon XP problem?

Check your antivirus/firewall, it may be blocking connections from jamp.exe

should i completely uninstall, and then re-install with the firewall down?

That won't do anything at all.

Either make an exception for jamp.exe in your firewall settings, or disable your firewall while you play JKA.

Oh I *see* - it'snot a problem during the download of the Mod, it's something the firewall is doing *while* I'm online? Durrrrrrr!!!! Sorry. I'm not very technical.
