orix
I decided to replay the game after i found the disc in some unused CD holder. Followed the directions in changing the Temp folder from %systemroot%/TEMP also installed patch and the game runs almost perfectly. Except when I get to year 2. After my encounter with Meche the crow and the long conversation with the dock master I try to go to the blue casket. The problem is, If my game is set with 3d Hardware acceleration ON i can enter and explore, only problem is that the sound stops working and when i try and speak with anyone, the mouths keep going forever and the game basically stops working. If 3d hardware acceleration is OFF then the game just crashes whenever i try to leave the area of the circular intersection the game crashes to desktop. anything i can do about this? orix
ok, sorta figured this out. I downloaded the grimdata.rar patch from http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=195709&page=2 (original link from OP is broken. On page 2 Scorpius gives this link http://grim-fandango.servhome.org/dossier/pbtech/GRIMDATA.rar anyway after patch the game still crashes when i try leave the circular intersection in year 2, without 3d hardware acceleration, my original saved file had it off but when i changed that before game loaded (press F1 at Lucas arts logo screen) then load the game, the sound stays on. If i wait for game to start, then put 3DHA on, sound stops working... I don't understand it. but it works...
Longcat
glad my patch could help a bit. but you really should try to play it with Residual instead these days. It's wonderful.
orix
Residual? XD as i said, i haven't been in the loop of this game for a while. Still have a little issue with 3dHA causing priority issues between background textures and characters. Characters become pixelated as background textures start breaking through and the character slowly disappears http://residual.sourceforge.net/ Will give it a try, thanks for the patch and the tip, Longcat.
