Darth Avlectus Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 This is about the aspects of how old games seem to have made their way onto your modern household computer. How it affects the retro gaming community and a look from afar from a spectator's POV on the culture it has created. DISCLAIMER: this is ***NOT*** an encouragement to partake in anything illegal whatsoever and such sentiment will be removed. Regarding the questionable legal stature of this grey area: It is not illegal so far as I know to possess IFF you have the original game cartridge, CD, etc. Otherwise, you must remove whatever you have downloaded within 24 hours. Hacking status is relatively unknown at this point, however I would imagine no problems with that so long as there is no infringement (think of it as modding older games like we mod KOTOR games), credit goes to the original company/artists of the game hacked and to whoever else for whatever other content not originally created by you. Then I have heard exaggerations in both directions about it. This disclaimer is subject to change indefinitely, as is this discussion. with that out of the way, discuss.
