Biserable Mastard
Hello all u Monkey Islanders out there!!!! I was just pondering this a few days ago and came down this here forum to ask u guys...... Which one do u all really prefer???? Curse of Monkey Island..or (booming voice)..Escape from Monkey Island? The reason i asked this is because..well...CMI was considered one of THE best..and EMI..is welll....3D so which one ya'll like?? it will be interesting to see which catches yer fancy most..as for me..EMI kicks the bananas outta CMI.Why? Because i didnt need the walkthru..heehe ------------------ I can;t think of anything cool to put in the signature
gusti
Thats a tricky one Cause what made CMI the best was it didn't require 3D accelerator but on the other hand that also makes EMI so darn good so I would say they are just as good in many ways
dvdwood
I think CMI is the best. I has a better story then MI4 and... (ehhh) Well, I just think it's better. ------------------ .:":.:"D-V-D":.:":.
_Obsidian_NIR
I played EMI without a 3d accelerator and I loved it too. And do you consider the story of the cursed ring a smart one? Nothing to do with the monkey island spirit. And I repeat it: EMi is the best because you get to see the most of Monkey Island itself, just like in SOMI

_Obsidian_NIR
Well. I did not use Opengl. Just Direct 3d. And I do not have a 3d card either. A plain Diamond Stealth
SexyNerd
I liked them both but its been such a long time (at least relative to my short life) since I played CMI that I can't remember much. *mental note: lay off the ganja* Whats a 3d accelerator? Fly
What's wrong with 3D? The tech was used well in EMI, Guybrush has never shown so much emotion.

leprechaun
hi im a newbie to the board... but id have to say that IMHO the secret of monkey island is the best. who cares about graphics, the monkey island series is about its humour, and i found MI1 the most fun, best game i have ever played
gusti
Well I think you're right as a matter of fact I think I'm going to install The Secret of Monkey Island after the day I finish EMI Then I'm going to play the hole series all over again (of course on the hardest difficulties) ------------------ LOOK!!! A THREE HEADED MONKEY!!!! [This message has been edited by gusti (edited December 06, 2000).]
Mr. Brush
I agree with leprechaun, but the humor in EFMI is very similar to the first monkey island. ------------------ "You don't need to see my identification" - Obi-Wan Kenobi / Guybrush Threepwood

Hellbeard
Escape is much better, Stemmle and Clark do MY KINDA HUMOUR yeah! Stan wasn't nearly as good in EFMI, his voice was worse, he didn't serve much purpose and his jacket freaked me out! (the pattern, the pattern it never changes AAAAAGGGHH) At least they kept the great music. Murrays' appearance was too short but extremely funny (try spinning him or using the puppets or abomination of nature with him)... a bit like the game. I loved Sam & Max too, especially when I first played it and I had no idea how to play so Sam refused to 'use' this door and there were about 20 lines from Sam refusing, to patronising, to mocking, to angry, to maniacally depressed (every time I tried it again Sam would sob and Max would threaten to kill me)

Dwalin
I think what makes one Monkey Island game better than the other is simply how funny it is. I would say, without a doubt, that CMI is far more funny than EMI. EMI is a Secret of Monkey Island remniscence, and too much of it really. Because Secret of Monkey Island is perhaps the best, save for Monkey Island 2, but you can't rerun humour like that and make it just as funny. I laughed a lot more playing CMI than EMI. Even though EMI is a great game, it is the least funny in the series. But I prefer to look at the series as a whole, and EMI fits perfectly.
