DiScO StU
So the other day i got my PC Gamer and so i`m flipping through the pages reading the reviews, then all of a sudden i stop at the Eye witness section and then i`m just reading along, La La La, and this is on the best selling games of 2000, and i don`t see any emi, on the next page it`s "games worth noting." and there i see emi, it only sold 55, 275 copies, 2,019,827$, i mean that`s not incouraging to make a 5th mi, also whut disgusted me most of all is that games like barbie pet rescue made three times more money, and five times more copies sold. AND DO YOU KNOW WHY THIS IS HAPPENING, IT`S BECAUSE STUPID DUMB 8 YEARS ARE TOO STUPID TOO GET ANYWHERE IN ADVENTURE GAMES, THE GAMES THEY PLAY ARE SIMPLE GAMES WHERE ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS SHOOT PPL, GAMES THAT ENVOLVE NO SKILL, AND IT`S TEARING ME UP INSIDE!!! DiScO StU
to: heracio t. marley I come from canada, eh, and they think i`m slow, eh. well back on topic, this should be moved to the mi5 topic, but anyway yesterday i was looking at an old pc garmer, looking down the top 50 games, and ya know whut, the only mi game was curse of monkey island in 38 spot, sam n max was also there in 18 witch is pretty good , but whuts crazy is that grim fandango was not there, and nhl 98 was, also worms, sim city 2000, doomhigh heat baseball 2000,indiana jones and the fate of alantis(witch is a crappy game from 1992), and you don`t know jack was there. many of the top fifty games were poorly done and from 1992. #1 was half-life, witch is a good game, but it`s way too easy. i think strategy games need an multi-player or like mods, that half-life has so many of them. MegaMonkey
Monkey Island is only respected via the true fans of the serie these days. Many don't know what Monkey Island is even about, and like I've noticed, and it is said, that Escape From Monkey Island doesn't truly introduce newbies to the serie, but throws lots of inside-humour; wich of course is funny to us, the experienced generals; but strange to those who haven't played the previous games. Some fans didn't buy EMI because it got few bad reviews, and because they didn't like the new ways of the graphics ( aka 3d characters in 2d backgrounds ), nor their computers weren't good enough. Yes, I've heard cases like these exist. But the truth on those sell-numbers are that Adventure games don't interest the youth nowadays. It's all about Counter Strike, or some other fast-paced action-type game. They just don't sell anymore. And there's only those MI-hardcore-fans who'd buy the next Monkey Island game - I truly understand even if LA would say they won't do another monkey island game. they expected the sells to be quite a bit higher I believe. ------------------
Rufio
i have that same copy of the magazine, those figures are only US, and at the bottom of the list was The Longest Journey, which sold 350 coppies US, yet it was the Best Adventure game of the YEAR! games may bomb in the US but there is the rest of the world to take into account. why do u think david hasstlehoff still has a music career, JAPAN! ------------------ STILL the resident punk rocker! Tull
Actually Stu, that's not a bad sales figure. In fact it's rather good and it's no secret that LEC are thinking seriously about MI5.
