Who would come out victorious, Emperor or Yoda? So it wasn't because of fear, maybe becasue of his weaken physical state, but the main reason was so Luke could face and defeat Vader and the Emperor and become a Jedi Knight. Guest Admiral Odin Posted October 21, 2001 Share Posted October 21, 2001 well Yoda is over 800 years old in the first trilogy...or somewhere around that. Emperor is a lot younger. However the Dark Side has eaten away at his body. Tough decision, as we have yet to see any use a light saber. but I remember Yoda saying he was powerful in the force, so Yoda might have the advantage. But I don't really know.
