CaptainRAVE
Description Xbox - tentatively titled the HomeStation - will be based on Nvidia' nForce chipset and Intel's Pentium 4 processor. It is assumed that Nvidia has or will obtain one of Intel's Pentium 4 bus licenses. The HomeStation will pull content from the internet, DVD and even TV. It will play the content back or route it to devices that will be connected to the console. The design is a 'digital home entertainment system' and is also said to use TiVo-style facilities to record TV programming. These features have been rumored to be built into Xbox; however it appears that Microsoft may have decided to use them in a second unit. They have said they are waiting for a wider availability to the broadband internet connections before an actual release date will be set. Nvidia's nForce chipset used the same parts that the Xbox was made from. Based on the Pentium III processor; however, nForce only supports AMD's Atholon processor. Dell is planning to release a Pentium based box that will use the nForce, it appears that Nvidia has licensed support for the Pentium 4. The 'HomeStation' is planned to ship sometime late next year and it is very likely that a GeForce 3 based nForce will be used. The second generation chip, Titanium, is expected to be officially announced sometime soon.
