A complaint about the level contest to Mr. Gaber

I was very excited about the contest, until I read it was for U.S. residents only. I know this decision isn't yours, but anyway I want to note that many, many people who play this game are non-US inhabitants.

Just looking around this forums, a large percentage of forummers are from the Netherlands, Canada, Germany, and Mexico, and many of these people including me, won't be able to partcipate.

Just think a bout that, sometimes, you have a larger international market or interest, than that you have in the U.S.A.

Thanks,

I strongly suspect that the contest's limitations to the US is for legal reasons regarding transnational, international, and within-nation regulations. Even in the US, sometimes such contests come with the disclaimer "Offer void in the states of ...." and then a list of 4 or 5 states in which the contest is, for some esoteric legal reason, not allowed.

My guess is LA consulted with their legal department, and was advised that they couldn't do the contest internationally because of some stupid international trade treaty law. So I wouldn't blame LA, nor ask or expect them to change the contest rules -- blame, instead, the regulators and law-makers of the various countries out there who keep trying to regulate the internet.
