New Episode II trailer

Just in from starwars.com:

This Sunday, March 10, the public will get their first look at the full trailer for Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones as it airs on FOX television in America and also is posted to the Official Star Wars website, starwars.com. The trailer will begin playing theatrically on March 15, exclusively with the animated feature Ice Age, and other films thereafter.

"With this trailer, we start to look at the story and the state of the galaxy in Episode II," says Lucasfilm’s VP of Marketing, Jim Ward. "It sets the stage for what’s about to happen and how the characters are involved. We find out that the Republic is on the brink of war, and the Jedi are overburdened in trying to hold everything together."

The two-and-a-half minute trailer culminates with glimpses of some of the largest action sequences ever found in a Star Wars movie. Entitled "Clone War," this trailer begins to lift the veils of secrecy surrounding the mysterious Clone Wars first mentioned -- but never elaborated upon -- in the original A New Hope in 1977.

"In Episode II, we’re going to see the Jedi in action like we’ve never seen them before," says Ward. "We’re going to see hundreds of Jedi, hundreds of lightsabers, thousands of clones, in a huge battle. The trailer gives just a hint of what’s to come."

The trailer airs on FOX this Sunday between original episodes of "Malcolm in the Middle" (8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT) and "The X-Files" (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT).

So, it seems that they are finally giving a worthy trailer. Although, it is premiering on the big screen with yet another kids movie full of cute CG characters made for 6 year olds which was what was wrong with Ep I IMO. But, there you have it. Hope it's a good one.

Just a reminder for you, my friend. Star Wars is meant for every age group, "6 year olds" as well. That's what makes it so fascinating, because it has something for everyone and besides, we will find prequels to be much darker than original trilogy, so it's better to start with something light, funny for the kids(adults as well) and then move up to more mature themes like love, feelings and so one. GL said that Episode III will be the most darkest of all episodes, so he thinks it will also be least favorite of them all, but I doubt it. Let's imagine, there was this 9-10 year old kid watching TPM and now he will be 12-13(at the age, when sexuality starts to rise its head) and at the time of Episode III he will be 15-16, so he kinda lives through these new movies just like most of the older fans(who seem to suddenly forgotten their childhood and what it was like being a kid) lived through orinal trilogy and every episode gives him something different, something he can relate to in that specific age. So, it's kinda narrow-minded to think that all these movies should only please those older fans who really "own" the saga themselves and be serious action drama like there couldn't be any clumsy, "retarded", but still friendly characters in whole wide SW universe.

i think even when i was 9 i had enough taste to tell that ep1 wasn't very cool. ;)

now we will get to see one of the biggest CGI scenes ever in which clones are batted around by lightsabers (flying 10 feet or so backwards) since they can't possibly be cut by them in any way. ;)

as long as he puts the "cool" factor back in that sw and indy had, and keeps the cheesy pop culture references down i will be happy.

does it say when it will be released in the uk??
