hey, wut version of openGL is ok? i just noticed that downgrading my drivers didnt take my opengl back down. its still 1.3

Looking at the error from the picture....it almost seems as if your comp doesnt have any software that can "read/display" .tga files.

As if you're missing a "pictureviewer" or something if you know what i mean.

Other then that....i dont know...perhaps if you told us what comp exactly you have?...that might help. :D

i have tried reinstalling the game, completely removing it, reinstalling video drivers, installing different video drivers.....

lets see, then i tested return to castle wolfenstein to see if it still works since its off the Q3 engine too, but that game works fine. did all directx tests, all good. checked opengl page, and confirmed that its upwards compatible (i have 1.3 game says at least 1.1)....... wut else wut else........ i've tweaked my gf2 drivers settings up and down to see if i messed something up, no go there.

 

im at a loss........ i can usually solve any comp problem i come up against. this one seems to have gotten the better of me. anyone have the source to this game or q3 engine, so i can search for wut causes this damn error msg?

Do you have an original copy of the game, also, have you tried uninstalling, then ran regcleaner, and re-installed. I know I had a problem where some simple dust prevented a file from being completely installed, which caused a problem with it having trouble being recognized and a simple cleaning of the disk and re-installation cured the problem. Also, try updating to the latest version of the game, which may also fix your problem.
