ryanb316
This is happening to me as well. I really despise the default controls for this game. Yet everytime I change them to be able to play and to my suprise the next time I load the game up they are gone and back to default. Is there something wrong with my disc, cpu, or something else? iNARIUS
I have the same problem, but I believe I have come to a temporary solution. First, the default location for the files that store the game settings is: "C:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars JK II Jedi Outcast\GameData\base" where you will find 'jk2config.cfg' and 'jk2mpconfig.cfg'. Obviously, the first is for single player settings and the second is for multiplayer. Second, what I have noticed about this problem is that it does save the setting information into the files, and it does not clear the information upon exiting the program. After changing things to the way I liked them, I quit the game and checked the files and the settings remained intact. So I presume that whatever occurs happens upon starting the game again. The solution is quite simple. Enter the game and set up your settings exactly how you would like them. Video, sounds, controls (as it messes up all of them for me) then quit the program. You are probably going to have to live with these settings so do it right. Then, goto the folder that contains the two files and right click on each of them to view the properties. Make them both 'Read-Only' files by clicking the check box at the bottom of the Properties form and that should do it. I dont know what happens if you try to manually change the settings from within the game now, but it solved the main problem for me so I'm happy. You might create a backup of the files when you have them the way you want them incase they get restored again somehow.
teleguy
Take a look at http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=42337 . Also make sure that you don't use the safe mode links to start the game.
Almight Kerjo
Since read-only never worked for me, you may want to try this, as it works. [copy=from other thread that is just like this] When you're in the game with all your settings set the way you want them to be, bring down the console and type write xxxxxx.cfg where xxxxxx is the name of the file (try autoexec since it is loaded automatically) If you make any changes to your config (video, controls, whatever) make sure to do the above again. HBK
I would say safe mode strikes again. I did the same thing when I got the game. from the start/programfiles/lucasarts/starwars\jedi outcast menu there is 3 options to play JKO. Choose "play star wars jedi outcast", NOT the play single player and multiplayer options, notice they say (safe mode) after them. I just saw play single player and play multiplayer and sent them to my desk top. The option I said to choose will give you the choice to play SP or MP.
