Guest PissedJedi
I swear I believe that RAven can definitely handle licensed properties well now they learned alot from Elite force.. And it show's with JO. Now Imagine if they used the Doom engine and did a Blade Game. It would be utterly bad-ass. They have shown with JK2 they can do Sword fights and have incredibly animations. The doom engine would be perfect considering that Blade is a dark scary vicious universe. And they definitely know about gore looking at Sof2. I believe they should really think about it. Blade as an action FPS with FP POV and 3rd person POV would be amazing. The action they could do. Add some great lines. Make use of the character Whisper in creative ways. And they could even use more of the marvel universe. Especially now that the Head of Marvel is a person who got the company to drop the damn comic code authority. They definitely are into pushing the limits. What you guys think?
StormHammer
While I agree, I think they probably would like a bit of change. I know they've got lots and lots of game ideas, from interviews (and emails I've received ) in the past. Now they've completed JKII and are rounding off SOF2, I have to wonder what new titles they have planned. Personally, I would love to see Raven make a Heretic III, with even more moves etc., than JKII. ( Go on, Kenn...you know you want to...*waves hand* ) I can't wait to see some more concept art for Quake IV as well... But I digress. Yes, if the film makers are considering a game based on Blade 2...then they really, really have to take it very seriously and employ the talents of a professional game developer. From what I saw and read about the original Blade game, it was rubbish. Too many of these film-spinoffs are under-budget and made faster than you can blink to cash in on the film's success...and they invariably turn out to be bad. Exceptions are where some amount of time has passed between the original film and the making of the game. Aliens v Predator is a good example. Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force is sort of another, because the series had been going a while prior to the game's development. And, of course, there is the Dark Forces series, begun 12 years after the release of ROTJ... Blade 2 needs to take more of an ONI approach (a beat-em-up in an FPS universe), but with better detail, far better design, and better realised gameplay elements. Guest PissedJedi
I know about them wanting to do original ideas.. And A Heretic 3 with full co-op mode would be amazing.. As Kenn has talked about. But as they showed with Jk2 ,Raven is has gotten large enough that they can work on 2 special titles at the same time.. or rather.. Now they got 3. The key is they have to make a million seller or at least close to it to be able to get the type of freedom they deserve. It's hard right now to get totally original ideas published. Although Raven has reached the point they can get that type of freedom they don't have the name like A Blizzard who can work on a game announce it and every publisher would drop their drawers to publish it. Hopefully JK2 is the game that allows Raven to get that total support. But I really think that Raven right now in the pc industry is the best company I would sign up to do a Blade game. As far as Oni goes. It was a nice idea but the game needed more polish. I believe that Blade2 can be like Jk2 with the mix of weapons,Swordplay and yes you are correct the added martial arts wizardry. God I would love to be able to play a Blade game someday where you could literally suplex someone like he did in the movie. lol Blade2 was kick-ass. VyseTheTwisted
Hmm ... a superb idea, though it's unlikely that this is going to happen in the forseeable future Perhaps it could work as a Jedi Knight 2 mod ... though this would require heavy modification and alot of work and effort. Are there any Blade mods around for any game anyway? I'd be surprised if their wasn't
Wicket the Ewok
I wouldn't let Raven anywhere near even Britney Spears' movie. I'd rather let someone competent handle a film as good as Blade 2. Don't really fancy another job lot of jump puzzles and pixel hunts. *sigh*
Vorax
Why use the Doom engine? They have become quite proficient at using the Quake engine. Don't let their maps fool you, Quake III maps can be 10 times scarrier then Doom, it just depends on the design. As for a mod using in JKII, it could be done, all the elments are there. To the last post, you should cut Raven some slack on the puzzles. What did you expect to see? Just hack and slash? There has to be something to get through, or it isn't a game, it's a training mission. They were probably just following something that LE sent them anyways. - Vorax
