nK_Archangel
I checked and the file isn't set to ''Read-Only''...Everytime I change some settings, like the ''hunkmegs'' value and the ''toggleconsole'' value and restart Multiplayer, all my settings are back to default! Anyone have any ideas? I'm guessing that you can't set the hunkmegs setting in the console ingame...That's really the only setting I'm missing... But still, it's quite frustrating and rather inexplicable why my changes to the cfg file don't get saved...
camp3r
i've seen this pop up on other q3 based games including q3. you might try deleting your configs and letting the game rebuild new ones. that has worked for me in q3 before. and you can change the hunkmeg successfully from the console and it will stay. nK_Archangel
Ahhh, thank you muchly...as long as hunkmegs works in the console 'tis all good... Strange quirk though...Before this game I thought the Q3 engine was the bee's knees, but I'm not so sure anymore, especially with the whole non-illuminating lightsaber business... Still, the game does look incredible, so I'm not complaining...
Almight Kerjo
First post - hey - I'm having about the same problem, except that EVERYTHING in the jk2mpconfg.cfg gets reset...this means all my controls, all my video settings, and heck, my name. I've never had this problem with Q3 before. I tried deleting and letting the thing rebuild, but that doesn't work. I go in, change my name, then change video settings, when it comes back, I'm named Padawan again. I checked the file, it has all the right controls in it each time the thing loads, but it doesn't read them? I've made it read-only before to make sure it wasn't being overwritten...that didn't help. Any help is appreciated.
camp3r
i don't have any other ideas. however if you start the game from the start menu make sure you're not using the safe mode links. i've seen somewhere else that this was the cause of your problem. Try this: Create a textfile in your base directory and name it autoexec.cfg (or any other name you like e.g. config.cfg). Open jk2mpconfg.cfg and autoexec.cfg and paste all settings you want to change from jk2mpconf.cfg to autoexec.cfg. Change settings (hunkmegs) in autoexec.cfg and save it NOT as textfile but as all files (*.*). When you start the game autoexec.cfg will load automatically. (If you used another name you have to type in on the console e.g. /exec config.cfg every time you start a game)
Almight Kerjo
A slightly easier way to do it is to set all the settings the way you want them to be, bring down the console and type: write xxxxxx.cfg where xxxxxx is the name of the file (try autoexec since it is loaded automatically) If you make any changes to your config (video, controls, whatever) make sure to do the above again. Good call. I had the same problem and yes, I was starting in safe mode. Once I played regular, all was good. From the Start icon go to /program files/lucas arts/ starwars jkii outcast and check it out. There are 3 playing options: PLay star wars jedi outcast multiplayer, play star wars jedi outcast single player and plain old play star wars jedi knight outcast. I had sent the single player and mutltiplayer to my desktop but hadn't realized that after both of those options were the words (safe mode). Just start off of the "play star wars jedi knight outcast" option and that will bring you to the startup screen(like when you first installed it) and you can choose to play SP or MP from there. Hope that works for you. HBK
