Zek Posted April 7, 2002 Posted April 7, 2002 As I'm sure you're aware, client-side mods like music changes, models and skins don't seem to work on Pure servers online. It's extremely difficult to find a server in which you can use something besides the default models. Is there ever going to be a patch or another model/skin method or something to let people use their own ones freely online? The current system definitely hurts the mod community a good deal, and I'd like to hear your comments on it.
Zed030 Posted April 7, 2002 Posted April 7, 2002 It's a pain in the buttox now, but picture color coded skins with aimbots...
Kalishnikov Posted April 7, 2002 Posted April 7, 2002 I can't even seem to get my extra music to work on non-pure servers. It would be nice if some file types were ignored, like mp3s, so we're not so restricted.
ChangKhan Posted April 7, 2002 Posted April 7, 2002 Well, this is exactly how Quake 3 was set up, it was purposely designed this way to prevent cheating (replacing files that make enemy skins easy to see, screwing with maps, etc.) If a popular mod comes out, servers will run with it. If downloads are enabled, clients can even download any mods running on the server. Until then, if people set up some non-pure servers, you can connect to those and play with whatever mods you like.
