Dea
if in single player you add jedif, you see the jan model with certain aspects not showing (the goggles on her head, and the belt for example) does anyone know how to get this done in multi player? Dea
been trying a bit in modview, so now I know what parts I want turned off, and what parts I want on... now to get it to work in MP
sights0d
I did it to turn off the arm shield thingy on Kyle's model. In the .skin file, change the name of the file that is being looked for for just the item that you want gone... for instance- To get rid of the shoulder pad, I changed the line: torso_shoulder_pad,models/players/kyle/kyle_extras_red.tga to: torso_shoulder_pad,models/players/kyle/1kyle_extras_red.tga Notice that I just added a "1" to the beginning of the file name. If you just delete the line, the shape will show up as just shaded gray in the game. Enjoy!
ShodiKGian
I've been looking for that info for a long time, I hope it works!
ShodiKGian
It does what it does whenever you don't add the proper skin resource, oh well, back to the drawing board
JediMouse
Some of the models and some of the model's parts work differently for this. Basically, most of the time, you can eliminate an "accessory" part by point the texture to something that isn't a valid file; the suggestion is "shoulder_pad,clear" or something. But it doesn't always work. Kyle's shoulder pad works like this, as when you do this, it becomes invisible and you see his normal shoulder showing through. His collar works like this, too. However, while Jan's goggles work like this, her jacket/vest and chaps don't. Likewise, the Rodian's belt can be eliminated this way, but not his vest. Go figure. ~JediMouse~
Ripp'en Rob
I was really hoping that there was some way to NOT have flaps while using a hood. Ive renamed flap file, deleted flap file, etc. Do I HAVE to have a flap if I want to have a hood?
JediMouse
I haven't played with the Reborn model much. I don't know what the status of the flap is, in regard to whether the trick works or not. Since you've tried both ways, I'm guessing probably not. ~JediMouse~
sights0d
I've never had a problem with pointing it elsewhere... Actually... I tried it with the Jan model, and I couldn't get rid of the vest... The goggles went poof pretty quickly... Anyway... If you want to see my technique in action, download my Jado skin from http://www.jediknightii.net and check out the default skin. It was based on the Kyle skin. I know it is a really cruddy skin, but have a look anyway.
