Hell Raiser
I'd like to put this one computer I have to good use, so I figured I could make it a dedicated server for me and my friends. Would a 233mhz, 64Ram, Voodoo2 (pointless to name vid card as it'll never be used for ded server ) and a LAN with a cable connection be suited for a small ded server rig up? MatrixCPA
I think the RAM might be an issue....cpu is really cutting it close. If you only have a few people, it might make it...maybe. How fast is the upstream on your cable? If it's only 128k, then you'll only be able to get 3-4 people on the server at one time before the lag goes to hell. Hell Raiser
The best that I can answer that question is that I can usually send files to other cable users at 40-45KBps.
Tweaker
I'm running a duel server on a p200 64mb ram and had NO problems. The speed is perfect for a duel server. I havnt tested it with a 32-player ffa thogh. I wouldn't recommend that.

If you can get that amount of upstream consistenly, then I'd say you could support 6-8 players using sv_maxrate of 8000. Are you planning to install linux or winblows? Are you planning to install linux or winblows? Cool. Winblows 98 is already on there. It serves as my fiancee's computer when she's over here, other than that, it collects dust. I'm reluctant to install linux or anything as I hate that n3wb feeling I get when trying something totally different from "the norm." So don't try to convince me that linux is far better than windows and I should d/l and install asap. [rasafrackin smilies]
