glennz Posted April 8, 2002 Posted April 8, 2002 If I choose dedicated server, it works fine, which means my port forwarding, firewall must be set correctly. Why can't I run a non- dedicated server then? It loads up, but is not on the list... The answer of course is simple... Ans:________________________ Plz fill in the blank for me.. Glenn:D

I'm running a non-ded server and its posted online. However, you may need a 3rd party game browser to enable it. I have All-seeing Eye from which I initially created my game from there and it must have sent my details to the internet for ppl to join.... because now i don't use ASE and run the non-ded server straight from itself and ppl still find me and connect from the internet. LETS ROCK !
MatrixCPA Posted April 10, 2002 Posted April 10, 2002 Here's a brief description of the different server modes: mode 0 (Listen) - Server does not "advertise" to the master list nor responds to local queries. Connection possible via IP only. mode 1 (LAN) - Server does not "advertise" to the master list but does respond to local queries. mode 2 (Internet) - Server "advertises" to the master list(s) You can have a non-dedicated listen server setup through the in-game gui. You can have a dedicated listen server setup with one of the server binaries and +set dedicated 0 in the command line. I would have to verify this, but I believe you can "change" the mode after the server is started. I don't know if it will change the server advertising itself. So, you might try starting a non-dedicated listen server with the in-game gui, drop down the console and type /set dedicated 2 and see if it shows up in the lists after a bit. You can also use ASE or send heartbeats manually by typing /heartbeat in the console.
