dan-o2
Ok, I have a major problem with multi. I'm on a 56k, and I was in a game with some T2 tribemates earlier today, and I can honestly say it was some of the most fun I've EVER had in multi. For ANY game. Anyway, getting to my problem, when I ping servers, it seems to be inaccurate for some reason, I'll ping a server, have it show up as 300, or 100, 80, what have you, but when I enter the game, my ping is unbearable. It stops at 999, but I'm sure it's much, much higher. I've tried everything I can think of, /rate 3000, among countless others. Please lend assistance, I really want to experience multi to the fullest, thank you for your time.
dan-o2
I apologize for bumping, but any help would be much obliged. Thanks.
WitchDrAsh
Dunno I have the same problem and I'm ADSL.. All I can suggest is try playing with rate and snaps, lower the detail e.t.c all can affect ping. Beyond that make sure that there is nothing running in the background that could steal bandwidth. dan-o2
Usually all I have going is mIRC and teamspeak.
WitchDrAsh
turn them both off and try again. I found my virus checker was increasing my ping quite a bit (talks to norton's servers all the time)
dan-o2
I've done that in the past, I see no improvement. =\
StormHammer
I'm a 56ker and I'm having the same problem, I'm afraid. My own ping is all over the place...it rarely goes below 250...but usually ends up at 999, like you said - complete with 'Connection Interrupted' messages. I played on a server last night, and that's all I kept getting...well, apart from getting killed because I couldn't move anywhere. The pings in the server list bear no relation to my pings in-game. I'm not sure there is much that can be done about it though. I am just grinning and bearing it at the moment...and sticking to FFA, where I don't have to rely on the saber for kills. Sorry I can't be of much help. Anyway, I'll move this over to Tech Help in case someone there can find a solution to this problem. Welcome to the forums, BTW. dan-o2
Thanks. I wasn't entirely sure where this would go, as I've seen 56k posts in the valley of the jedi before.
