Evan Nash
Just curious, I want to make a few simple changes to a few .pk3 files of mine like .bot files and such... Anyone know a program I can download to do this and where I can find it? Thanks a lot!
Cornbread
Winzip. *.pk3 files are nothing more than renamed zip files, so Winzip will read them. You can also make a *.pk3 file by renaming the *.zip (remember to have show file extensions enabled in Windows). Good luck.
Tems
in addition, if you make changes and want to release them, make sure you have your pk3 file inside an additional zip file. even tho pk3 is zip in disguise, web servers/clients don't deal well with pk3 files, and people don't like having to rename extensions to get things to work. -Tems
Evan Nash
No, no, no, no, no... I meant the files INSIDE the pk3 file. Not the pk3 itself...the files INSIDE it I meant..
Cornbread
Ah. Well why'd you call the thread "Pk3 Editor"? It all depends on the type of file you're trying to edit. If you mean the AI files, I've got no idea... If you mean the npc.cfg file, a simple text editor (wordpad) will do the job fine. By the way..when editing files from the pk3, you may need to make sure that they're not set to read only before you try to save/modify them. Tems
.ai files are text as well. in fact, most everythign thats not sound, texture, skin, map or model is text. its always safe to try text first at any rate. -Tems
