Nivek Ogre
Ran a deditated server just fine for 8 days, crashed about 6 times, no big deal. Just restarted it. Now I can not get it back in the master refreash list. Ahhhh WTF? I changed NOTHING! Straight outa the box, set it up ran fine, then whamo! All gone bye bye! Again I stress here I changed ZERO settings, nata, nothing! It is set up the exact way it was from day one! I am behind a Linksys router but that doesn't seem to have stopped it in any way. I changed NOTHING! Not in the router, not in the game, not in the OS. For the 8 days it was running it was always full, now no one on it for 2 days cept me a few times to see what the heck is going on with it? I am at a complete loss here as to what is going on! Any advice? I am at the point now where I am going to sell the box and just say to heck with it...unless you guys can help...
MatrixCPA
You'll need to post your startup file (batch file, script or command lne) and server.cfg file to give us something to go on.
Nivek Ogre
It's using the default file, jk2mpconfig.cfg. I haven't changed anything!
Loathar
I encountered the exact same thing. Put it up, ran for a day, no probs, saw it everywhere. BAMM. Went down, now I cant see it in game searches at all. HEre is the trippy part. I can see my game in All Seeing Eye and Gamespy, I can enter the IP into Favorites and see it, and I can see it in LAN just fine. Problem is, when I select internet, show empty games, show full games, ALL and ALL .... I dont see it. Hope that helps ... it sounds to me like a master server issue that needs a patch ... but then I ask why all these other servers are running fine ... is it becuase they havent crashed in a week ?!?!?!?! HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP !!!!!!!!! Using Windows 98 SE and trying to luanch from ingame and setting up a dedicated server ... Leo
Same thing happened to me last night and... Added "seta sv_master1 "masterjk2.ravensoft.com"" at my jk2mpcinfig.cfg" Added "+set net_ip xxx.xxx.xx.xx" at my shortcut's properties, that's the one that I start the server with. *xxx.xxx.xx.xx it's my IP. Restarted the server. After that my server showed again at the in-game browser.
Nivek Ogre
Well I tried that...no luck. As of right now that's the only change I have made from the default settings, which mind you, worked ok for 8 days then all the sudden they don't? What gives? I don't get it. Does the master server throw you off after "X" amount of time or what? All this stuff in here about using Q3 settings and SOF stuff is hog wash! Yea I know, I know its the same basic engine but we didn't buy Q3A did we? (least I didn't) This is a different game. So where's the goods Raven? Where's the support? "Oh just go ahead and mix and match stuff from different games to make it work then when that doesn't work try a setup from a different game all together!" is just utter crap! How about you buy a Honda from me and I set you up with a parts store that sells only Saturn parts and you figure out how to make the parts fit? Oh is it time for tea already? Well I'd really like to help you Mister but I have a golf game to get to! Oh and BTW stop emailing us here were really busy trying to figure out how to make PONG run on the QII engine! Novus
I have no idea if my servers show up in the in-game browser. Honestly, I don't care. They are always full. Use another cfg file other than jp2mpconfig.cfg just to make sure. seta sv_master1 "masterjk2.ravensoft.com" I also use +set dedicated 2 in the command line. And yes, most of the settings for dedicated servers are completely portable from Q3A. It's more like using Nissan parts for an Infinity, or Toyota parts for a Lexus. [TE]DarthBob
Ugh, your making changes directly to jk2mpconfig.cfg? 1. Make sure you create a dedicated.cfg text file and use the example settings from the Dedicated FAQ. 2. If that doesn't help, then I don't trust the JK2MPconfig.cfg file, I feel things just get hung up in that file. Now some will not agree with this, but if you have tried everything, then go to this thread: http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=41114 Let me know if that helps. Nivek Ogre
I don't really know where to start to make this dedicated.cfg file your talking about. I'm sure its very simple for you all, maybe I'm just retarded or something but I have tried to make one, they don't work for me. (yes I put it in the right place) They either have too much info or not enough. So I can't find the happy median. Thanks for the feedback anyway. I don't know...To heck with it! I'll just use the box for something else I guess. So far I haven't been able to do any of the stuff others seem to have no problem doing...can't make the .cfg, server won't list, it boots the clients, crashes, can't get the win32 ded to run, can't connect to the server, parse errors, locks up, laggs like crazy, binds don't stick, settings go back to defalut, ect. ect. Well enough of my complaining. Maybe I'll run an AOE server or DiabloII...
[TE]DarthBob
Naw, we've all been there. Just try the following: 1. Create a file called dedicated.cfg in the BASE folder. Edit it with Notepad and paste in the following text: //Sample dedicated.cfg file //set Gametype to 0 for Free for All Mode g_gametype 0 g_weaponDisable 0 g_maxForceRank 7 g_forcePowerDisable 0 g_saberLock 1 ui_forcedisable 1 g_autoMapCycle 1 fraglimit 30 timelimit 0 sv_maxclients 20 sv_hostname "JK2 FFA Server" sv_privateClients 0 sv_privatePassword "" rconpassword "" //turn on/off pak cheat check. 1=on, 0=off (Default: 1) sv_pure 1 //set max allowable rate for a client. 8000 to 10000 recommended. Max: 25000 sv_maxRate 10000 g_allowvote 1 g_privateDuel 1 //syncronous clients is necessary to allow client demo recording. Setting to 1 allows recording but play is not smooth and is not recommended for normal use. (Default: 0) g_syncronousClients 0 map ffa_bespin //end file 2. Now make an icon on your desktop with the command line: "D:\Program Files\LucasArts\Star Wars JK II Jedi Outcast\GameData\jk2mp.exe" +set dedicated 2 +exec dedicated.cfg You may need to change the path to relflect your installation path. Make sure you include the quotes. Also make sure your startup folder points to the same path. Hope that helps.
