madrebel Posted April 11, 2002 Posted April 11, 2002 well no problems so far. been running 2 of my servers with the new binary. Been stable since last night. Anyone else had problems yet? Seems pretty stable to me.
MatrixCPA Posted April 11, 2002 Posted April 11, 2002 I had 4-5 crashes in a very short period of time (seg faults) immediately before switching to 1.02b. However, it's been stable ever since. I suspect it was someone exploiting the vulnerability--which hasn't been fixed yet. My server was running very stable before the patch, so I can't say that it's helped with anything. Perhaps it has resolved issues for others.
madrebel Posted April 11, 2002 Author Posted April 11, 2002 well im guessing that the first patch will bring the code base up to 1.31 q3a. that will take care of the DoS attacks. yeah so far seems a bit more stable.
Wintrmte Posted April 11, 2002 Posted April 11, 2002 Wish I could say the same. :\ I had roughly 8 crashes last night, all within the 1:30pm timeframe. Then, periodically throughout the night.
MatrixCPA Posted April 11, 2002 Posted April 11, 2002 Just for comparison, here's my restart log. Note, all times are PST through 4/7 02:00 and PDT after that. I switched to 1.02b between the first and second crash on 4/10. 04/05/02 19:08:15 : JK2 Server Started. 04/05/02 19:08:56 : JK2 Server crashed, Restarting. 04/06/02 08:44:36 : JK2 Server crashed, Restarting. 04/06/02 23:53:41 : JK2 Server crashed, Restarting. 04/07/02 11:34:57 : JK2 Server crashed, Restarting. 04/07/02 15:42:41 : JK2 Server crashed, Restarting.. 04/08/02 12:01:23 : JK2 Server crashed, Restarting. 04/10/02 12:55:31 : JK2 Server crashed, Restarting. 04/10/02 13:08:13 : JK2 Server crashed, Restarting. 04/10/02 13:13:21 : JK2 Server crashed, Restarting. 04/10/02 13:25:33 : JK2 Server crashed, Restarting. 04/10/02 13:34:21 : JK2 Server crashed, Restarting.. 04/11/02 07:50:11 : JK2 Server crashed, Restarting.
rivmin Posted April 11, 2002 Posted April 11, 2002 Hmm....I had exactly the same experience on my servers. Maybe there was a problem with the master-server, and they failed because of that ? Just a thought...
MatrixCPA Posted April 11, 2002 Posted April 11, 2002 I had speculated about that before. I'm thinking of adjusting my auto-restart script so that it will ping the master server a couple of time and include the results in the log. Could prove an interesting experiment.

Hey MatrixCPA have you sent Raven that log yet? When I was talking to them they stated times when it crashes would be nice so they can check out there server and confirm if its at that end or not. Awol
Wintrmte Posted April 12, 2002 Posted April 12, 2002 Do they want .core files as well? I've got plenty of those I can send to them, although, they are over 1gb in size (uncompressed).
MasterData Posted April 12, 2002 Posted April 12, 2002 Where did you guys get the 1.02b server? I downloaded the Windows one from here, but it's actually still 1.02a. That is, the link and the filename say 1.02b, but inside the archive the readme says 1.02a, and that's what the EXE reports when it's run.
NiggaK Posted April 12, 2002 Posted April 12, 2002 Mine also are labed at 1.02b in the zip, but the everying reads out to 1.02a
crazy_elmo Posted April 12, 2002 Posted April 12, 2002 My server has been stable for 3 days now, so no complaints from here so far
MasterData Posted April 12, 2002 Posted April 12, 2002 My server is stable so far, too, but it still dumps out of the game with opcode errors when I enable dismemberment.

If you check the date, it'll say 4/9/02 and the file size isn't the same as the first 1.02a binary. So, I think that what you have IS the 1.02b win binary and someone just forgot to update the internal version.
[UoM]Epidemic Posted April 12, 2002 Posted April 12, 2002 My log files show the exact thing. The server still isn't stable by any measure. http://uomjedi.dyndns.org/crashlog
jk2-digger Posted April 13, 2002 Posted April 13, 2002 Neither of my servers have crashed in over 3 days since I went to 1.02b but I do see a large amount of lag that every so often seems to happen for no reason (or that I have found yet).
