NoodlyGod
Does the game work fine on both machines, when you aren't trying to network them? I'm not familiar with PCSync and I have no idea how it works, or how well it works. OR what it does to emulate Networking protocols using the USB port, so that could be the problem if both work fine until you try to join the other game. I would reccomend trying a direct connection (Network card to network card) If the game supports that, or buy a hub.
Ulic1
Its just funny because The original JediKnight connects and plays no problem. And It would be fine if the server was not detected but it IS detected. It just seems to crash the machine that trys to join the server. Its like a total lock up. The windows mouse appears , The music loops , but the caps key light and scroll lock and everything else works. Its just that there is no way to exit the program when it crashes exept to resart the machine. But both are capable of playing the game on there own great. I have specified specific ip addresses on both machines for the connection and they both have the same sub mask. Why is it happening I mean the makers are laplink. here is a url to the prog site http://www.laplink.com/products/pcsync/overview.asp Please as I said my internet connection is rubbish and playing against bots is great and the community are doing an incredible job but Human opponents are by far the best. So please my plea goes out to the community of JK2 Help this poor guy please !

NoodlyGod
Also make sure that your IP addresses match. (I would imagine that if this were the problem, you wouldn't see the game but just in case...) If your subnet mask is: 255.255.255.0 Then the first three octets of your IP address need to be the same. For example: IP machine 1: 192.168.0.106 IP machine 2: 192.168.0.212 Both with a subnet of 255.255.255.0 Also, make sure that you're both in the same workgroup/domain. Again: these are probably not the problem but it wouldn't hurt to check. I'll check out that program in a second, I just wanted to post this in case you're checking now. Ulic1
I have the ip addresses like this 172.29.61.1 and the other is 172.29.61.2 with the sub net set to 255.255.255.0 I think that should be ok. I really appreciate this. Thanks for the help guys.
NoodlyGod
Hmmm. That should work fine. And I'm afraid that the product page doesn't offer any technical information. Just a bunch of "we're so amazing" stuff. Sorry, but I don't have any more ideas. (Well, you could get a hub)

NoodlyGod
I think an intelligent hub or a switch would be a waste of money if you're just going to be playing LAN games. He doesn't have to worry about routing packets etc. I just checked pricewatch (http://www.pricewatch.com) and found quite a few 10/100 hubs for 30 bucks. You'll also need some Cat 5 cables. Mertado
If you have Ethernet connections, crossover cable. If you're networking via USB, I haven't a clue, other than to say I don't think it's a good idea. And, Jedi Knight was a completely different architecture, graphically and communications-wise, than JK2. You can't compare the two.
