ShadowHunter
I run my own server, but I do not have a static IP address. Is there any way of getting my server recognised by Gamespy etc on daily basis without people having to get a new list of servers. i.e they can just click on my server entry and be re-directed to the server. Any help would be appreciated THX:confused:
MatrixCPA
At the point that you startup the server, it sends your server info to the master server, including your ip address. So, as long as your ip address won't change while the server is running, you should be fine. If people don't refresh their gamespy list automaticlaly, then that's their own fault. The only problem is that I don't think people will be able to setup the server as a 'favorite' since that (I believe) works off the ip address. rspython
you might try something like http://www.no-ip.com its a dynamic DNS server. basically it lets you allocate a fixed url to your ip (e.g. somebody.sytes.net) and then you dl a little program that sits on your pc and monitors your ip address once every so often (configurable) and if it's changed, it updates the dns server. so all you ever have to do for ppl is give out your somebody.sytes.net address, and they will go to the right ip. thats how i do it (still not quite right on favourites though as JO seems to resolve the name to an IP and cache it, so they have to delete the favourite and re-add it, but at least they don't have to work out a new ip each time, just re-add somebody.sytes.net) LGN Python http://www.rebelsquadrons.org
