Battlegrounds:Warzone is an idea by a forumer a while back, and recently it has been brought to life.

 

In Warzone, using Galactic Battlegrounds, you fight for control of planets, either by force, diplomacy or by other means.

 

You can hire Bounty Hunters to help you defend your systems or help you attack, of course, they work for credits - the currency in the galaxy.

 

To earn credits, you can Trade your resources from your farms, also, the more planets and systems you have, you gain credits for that also. Plus, you could always bet on the races that take part every few weeks.

 

To assist you in your quest for total control of the whole galaxy, you can form Alliances with others - exchange trade and armies to do combat with.

 

When you sign up, you are called a Fraction. This can be the name of your clan, or a name you think up. You can have upto 10 members in your fraction.

 

If you are a large clan, or have lots of friends, you can have more fractions, each with a starting system

 

Rules are being drawn up and Battlegrounds:Warzone goes live in June. We have alot of maps to make, and rules to sort out.

 

Speaking of rules. The Galactic Senate are the ones who control and moderate Warzone. You can debate if you fall under attack, you can ask for the help of the Council. The Galactic Senate charge your fraction a tax for everything - failure to pay your tax could result in legions of Troopers being sent in to take your planets until your debates are paid.

Which set of forums are you going to use - I just signed up for the ones thru gamers.com and then find these!

 

Anyway, I looked at the setup of your 'Galaxy' and noted that the positioning of the 'planets' is asymmetric. If you are really going to go with 4 resource planets (scn)and 1 HQ planet (scn) per system (leaving 5 random map planets, I guess), you need to figure how these are to be arranged. Which planets can be attacked from other systems? Which outer planets can be attacked from WHICH neighboring system? Which planets can attack others within the same system?

 

I had thought you had said that there were to be only 2 of these special resource planets for each system. Have you thought out the special requirements for these planets(scns) as far as units/resources for each player?

 

Have you decided how to handle the choices of the rms and scns within each system? You can either assign these somewhat randomly, or allow each player to make up his own list (at least of the rms) within his own system, allowing some choice among different types. If the players are to choose the rms for their own system, I will be glad to help organize that (putting the available fair maps into 5 different groups from which the player may choose his own). It might be interesting for a player who excels at water maps, for example, to be able to put an extra one of those in his system, or a player who dislikes low food asteroid maps to be able to limit that type to one in his system.

 

That is all my thoughts for now!

I would say that each system would have a set of specific planets. Each system would be the same. Obvioulsy there would be a range of environments from forests, to deserts, to sea etc.

 

As for you other points, we are finalising the details now.
