crazyplaya73
I have setup a dedicated server and it has been working fine. People from the Internet could connect and I could connect from my other PC on my home LAN. So then I stated playing around with a dedicated.cfg file using the tips I found here and it seems to be working except for one thing... I my config file I set the net_ip to my server's Internet IP address. When I did this I could no longer connect to the server from my home LAN but people from the Internet could connect. Then I set the net_ip to the private LAN address of ther server and I could connect to the server from my LAN but I don't think others could get to it from the Internet. I'm not sure since it was early this morning. Question- How do I set the config file to be able to get to the server from the Internet and my LAN? It was working before I started using a config file. jaustin1
Get rid of the netIP command. I don't have one in my cfg file and my setup (just like yours) works fine.
Mertado
Agreed. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. The Quake 3 engine is actually fairly smart if left to it's own devices. It will figure out the IP it's running from and scan for available ports within a range automatically. You no longer need to specify individual ports in your config. The IP problem you have has to do with the 2 address interpretation caused by your router's Internet IP and your local LAN IP. Don't worry, everybody that uses this type of setup has a similar problem.
