gravioli
I just upgraded from 320MB of SDRAM to 512MB of DDR RAM and have huge performance increases in JKII at 1024x768x32, everything cranked up (except shadows set to simple vs. volumetric). I know upgrading RAM is not an option for everybody, but it eliminated the choppiness I was experiencing when multiple dead enemies were on the screen.....runs as smooth as silk now, even in outside environments. However, I don't think the increase in the amount of RAM was the only reason for the performance increase; I'm sure stepping up to DDR RAM from SDRAM played a major role. As a reference here is my setup: Win XP Home Edition P4 1.6A Northwood ECS P4S5A Gainward Geforce 3 SB Live! 5.1 X-Gamer WD 40GB and 60GB Harddrives
Mertado
Actually, a lot of it depends on how high your graphics are cranked. The more RAM, the higher you can tweak the game, without getting choppy, due to cacheing of textures, models, etc. More RAM == More POWER!
Robbiesan
another trick is to assign more RAM to the AGP Aperture setting in BIOS. I have mine set at 128MB which helps a lot.
Chiles4
That's good to hear. I went from 256MB to 512MB of DDR and bumped up my AGP Aperture to 128MB but didn't experience any improvement in load times, frame rates, game smoothness or anything.
