UnrealJedi
Kyle is pretty cool. I think maybe one more game with him, and then he needs to be relegated to a supporting kind of character, much as Luke was in Jedi Outcast. The whole Star Wars franchise is character driven, which makes for a better story, in my opinion. In this regard, relegating Kyle to a supporting character in future games and coming up with an entirely new character should be the way to go. I would very much like to see a game where you start out as a Jedi apprentice (a padawan, if you will) at the very end of your "apprenticeship". The game would start you out at the Jedi Academy where you are preparing to take the trials to be granted knighthood. Granted, this might be hard to do in a game, but it would great story-wise. What would make it even cooler is if you could choose from several characters with different personalities at the start of the game. This is who you would stay with for the entire game. This is purely a story effect, but it would be perfect for those who want to choose a character who has the personality closest to their playing style. As for Vestril's idea...in stand-alone games I think it is best if you had to play a Jedi Knight. A multiplayer on-line game should be the only forum where you could play an evil character... Rogerwilco2002
I like Star Wars enough to get excited about the movies and play all the computer and some of the console games that come out for it, but Star Trek is to me much better. While I know a lot of you may not agree with me on this one, I grew up on Star Trek and I have always loved it. I hope I don't get flamed for liking Star Trek because that would be pretty dumb. I know this is a Star Wars based forum but I figured I would stand up for ST since you guys are picking on it a little bit. To each there own. Also I thought Jan was pretty hot. I wouldn't mind showing her some of my 'force' powers if you know what I mean....hehehe sorry I couldn't resist the pun.

UnrealJedi
<<So you didn't like Jedi Knight I?>> I have it, just never finished it, mainly because I thought the graphics on the early Star Wars PC games really sucked. Granted, I got the games a couple of years after they came out, but they still looked sucky all the same. Plotwise, I think they were great. But the graphics and gameplay (especially the dorky point allocation way of assigning Force Powers) just left the games with something missing. What do you guys think of my idea of having game where you start as a padawan getting ready to take the trials to become a Jedi Knight? After you complete the trials, you then go off on your first mission. I think it would be a pretty cool idea. I'd love to see more of the Jedi Academy, behind the scenes so to speak. In fact, the game could consist of several missions. I think that not every game needs to have some epic storyline behind it. Am I the only one who thinks this? tubbydrmmr
UnrealJedi...I think that is a really cool idea. I would also like to see more of the jedi academy. I think that it would be cool to keep key characters invloved in furture games by doing things like that. Like, Kyle could be part of the jedi academy and one of your instructors. Or luke could be the same. Maybe even other SW universe characters could be included the same way, like how Lando was in JK2.
Raynaga
I always felt it was kind of dumb how they made Katarn a jedi after Dark Forces. It just seemed so amazingly random, almost as if they threw Katarn into the Force just to make (GASP!) money. Like they were all sitting there in the conference room saying: Guy 1:"Ok, DF did fairly well, but where do we go from here?" Guy 2: "How about we make him a Jedi? The fans love that stuff" Guy 1: "Isn't that rather random? How on Earth would we sell that plot-wise?" Guy 2: "We won't have to. People won't care, they will be too busy giving us their cash so they can Force Pull Rodians off cliffs. Am I a genius, or what?" --R--
Lord_FinnSon
I think Kyle is even much more interesting as a character after JK2. Original Dark Forces only introduced him(it had a story, but seemed more like a punch of random missions in the end), but Jedi Knight really fleshed out his character. MotS then again, even though not as well written as JK, works better, if you play it as a prologue to JK2; I think it has few genuinely great moments like Sith Temple showing the "horrors" of the Dark Side and sets well the mood for the situation where JK2 begins. After all this, it's kinda hard to predict where LEC wants to go next. These earlier games dealed with Kyle's journey to become a real Jedi Knight even though he didn't even know it first(Vader says in the end of DF something like "Force is strong with Kyle Katarn") and hard choices he had to make. I personally think he has finally learned his lesson and can't keep working as a mercenary anymore avoiding Jedi Academy nor continuing using Dark Side powers. What I think would be probably best for Kyle next, would be making him a Jedi Master and having his own apprentice. Maybe game(perhaps set to happen during Yuuzhan Vong invasion) could then shift between these two, but took the whole concept further than MotS did and show whole story from their both point of view: when you control Kyle, for example, his apprentice helps you as a buddy AI(also vice versa) and in some point during the game they get split up and continue mission alone, but meet each other again later. Of course this is only my suggestion, but nonetheless it would be too repetitious to start once again from the beginning and advance your powers as you go along(maybe Kyle's apprentice, but not Kyle himself). Since the Lucas Empire is so tight on continuity and big on story, I think it makes perfect sense to relegate Kyle to a supporting role. His story has been told, now it's time to have him help others as he has been helped.
Darth Slayne
As for me, I think Kyle was kick arse in Drak forces, but he really turned into a dweeb after that! I do agree that the Dark forces story would not be the same without him, and that any future plot should have him in a mentor type role, opening the door for a new character. I have a couple of things I reckon would be cool. 1: A scenario where you play Kyle before and during his service in the empire. It would be nice to play all the way to the point where he defects. 2: (My preferance) A scenario based on the evolution of an upcomming Sith Lord or something. I mean lets face it. The good guy's can't ALWAYS win can they? It would be so refreshing to see things from the Dark side's point of view.
