My new GeForce 3 Ti200 runs as slow as a Voodoo 3! WTF? (Please help!)

OK, yesterday I bought a brand new PNY Verto GeForce Ti200 card, installed it (the install went fine) made sure I had the lastest drivers for every piece of hardware in my computer (INCLUDING the motherboard, which is an Intel 815E), was very eager to see my new video card just totally put my old one (a Voodoo 3) to shame, said to myself, "What better game to test it with than Jedi Knight 2?" and much to my dismay, the game didn't seem that much faster than my old Voodoo 3!!!!!!

 

I mean, sure, it looked a HELL of a lot better, but I STILL had major lag when going into those huge outdoor environments (along with stuttering sound) just like on my old Voodoo 3!

 

My god man, I almost cried!

 

My computer specs are:

Intel Celeron 1Gig

256 MB RAM

Sound Blaster 16

DirectX 8.1

Windows 98

And of course, the bloody PNY Verto GeForce 3 Ti200

 

I went to the PNY and NVidia websites to check their technical support, tried everything they suggested, but to no avail.

 

What exactly is wrong here? Has anyone else had this problem? Please, someone, ANYONE, help me.

Its not the graphics card, even people with GeForce 4's are having problems. Its quite simply the fact that the Quake 3 engine was never designed with the intention of running such a large and destailed game.

what settings are u running it at? and what kind of fps are u getting??

 

i had to drop my resoution from 1152 to 1024 to get most of the game to be plyable, then when i got to the last level it went down to 4fps!!! it was worse than a high ping on line. so i will have to drop it to 800 or less to finnsih the game.
