Ripper45 Posted April 23, 2002 Posted April 23, 2002 My buddy tried to find my dedicated server in the in game browser...and it wasn't there!!! No one else jioned so noone else could see it either!!! Please help!! thanks

Ripper45 Posted April 23, 2002 Author Posted April 23, 2002 i hope so but still how come some servers show up but others don't!!! For example when i go to jion a game a bunch of servers show up!!! But when I host no one joins!!! Why is that?? Any ideas!!!
Novus Posted April 23, 2002 Posted April 23, 2002 There could be many reasons for that other than the master server not reporting your server to the in-game browser. Also make sure you're not running a Firewall. BTW, last time I checked searching was disabled on the forums, but I guess that wouldn't stop you from browsing the topics.

MatrixCPA Posted April 25, 2002 Posted April 25, 2002 Make sure you also have them check in GameSpy or ASE. The in-game browser is limited on the number of servers it will display while the others are not. If it doesn't show in the outside lists, either then there might be some things you can try. The list of things varies and depends on if you are connected through a firewall/router, if you have multiple ips on the same box, etc.
Sneak Posted April 25, 2002 Posted April 25, 2002 So what are the things I can try? My server is up and my buddy can connect directly, but I don't show up in the master lists (ravensoft or ASE). The ded. server console is "Sending heartbeat to masterjk2.ravensoft.com" like a champ but it never shows up. Last night I even unhooked the router and let the server run by itself for 2 hours, nobody joined. Could a couple of you guys try and join just to confirm in my mind that this thing is accessible via the internet? sneak.dyndns.org I'd really appreciate any feedback/suggestions about the server issues! MatrixCPA Posted April 25, 2002 Posted April 25, 2002 After you unhooked the router and let it run did you re-check ASE? In another thread, someone reported that they added the following to their command line: +set no_udp "0" +set no_ipx "1" ...and that seemed to do the trick. Make sure they are before your +exec server.cfg. If you didn't check ASE after pulling your router, you might want to try again and check it after a short bit. At least then you could isolate if it's a router setting or not.

I am completely new to this...I would like to try this to see if I show up on the ingame browser then!!!! where do I put it?? Please be very specific, I am a complete newbie as far as batch file goes, etc...thanks
MatrixCPA Posted April 25, 2002 Posted April 25, 2002 The new binary is not a patch...it's a replacement. You simply replace the jk2ded.exe you had before with the new one.

Also some people CAN see it on the list, and are playing. I, and a few others, cannot see it on the list.. What is going on!?
