Any modem tweaks?

I play online using a 56k modem which connects at a maximum of 53.2k. I get an O.K. ping but I still get lagged to hell and I want to know if there are any tweaks for the Q3 engine that will allow me to drop my ping like I can in CS with cl_rate 2800. If I had DSL in my area I'd get a DSL line but since I can't get the service, i am stuck with a ****ty 56k, so please help.

Did you check the jediknight MP CFG file? You may be able to alter the setting you mentioned in the CFG file since both games are related as far as engines are concerned. I would check right now, but I am not using my own computer right now.

Well first of all the cfg file is a jumbled mess and I can't look thru it, and second, I know that cl_rate is not in the game. all client commands have the prefix G_ and G_rate does nothing. so there has to be something else. I need a command list for quake basicaly.

Open the CFG file with Wordpad instead of Notepad and it won't be a jumbled mess.
