Server Varible List?

Perhaps I have missed it but I have looked back a few pages and not seen a thread listing all the server varibles. I saw a thread with all the client varibles but...

 

If the full server varible list is somewhere on the Lucas / Raven sites or my own hard drive and I am too dense to see them, please, someone give me a steer in the right direction. Thanks!

 

ps: MatrixCPA, you seem to be single handedly running this end of the forums. If you are doing it out of the kindness of your heart (and not out of concern for your pocketbook:D) be advised that you have my admiration.

If you look at Novus' post here you'll see the vast bulk of the possible server settings. Of course, there are also a lot of settings in there that you'll never need to touch. If you're looking for particular settings just let me know what you're trying to do.

 

Thanks for the compliment. I gain nothing financially from helping out here. I'm not even a moderator. Just consider me an active member of the server admin community trying to help out others as I have been helped in the past.

You need to get their client number using status in the server console. You can't do it via rcon because that command is broken and it doesn't return much of the list. Also, the status server console command is busted in the v1.02c win binary. It works fine in the linux binary still. You can't use the kick command on players with spaces in their names because the console strips out quotes. Sucks, but that's how it works.

For some reason JK2 has seperate "kick by nick" and "kick by id" functions.

 

clientkick <id#>

kick <name>

 

Still doesn't help you if you're under the broken win32 rcon, but it works fine for those of us under linux.

Well, JK2 is based on the Q3 engine and Q3 has 2 separate kick commands (kick/clientkick). I guess I don't find it strange because I've been running Q3 engine based servers for a while. ;)

q2/q3a kick (at least pre 1.2x) accepted id.

 

I phased out of all q3a-based stuff as 1.2_g was being released so I have no idea what happened after that. Was that changed in the protocol mismash of 1.2x at some point?

I never ran a Q2 server myself and the Q3 f/g era was when I first started--so I really don't know. Perhaps a more grizzled server vet would be able to say. All I know is that it's been the way it is for a relatively long time as far as game lifespan goes. ;)

Just checked with one of the mod coders I worked with on a q3a project, apparently he unbroke kick to work how we liked it in code as part of the package so I could be talking apples-to-oranges.

 

No big, the world keeps on a spinnin'
