Laggy Menu Screen

Hi, whenever I start up JK2 the menu is very laggy, the game plays fine but the menu is near un-navigable. The mouse takes a few seconds to move, the logo on the left lags, and the sound lags. This is very annoying as it takes a long time to navigate the mouse to the desired option, and it usually misses and I have to go back, overshoot the mark, etc. My specs are:

 

600MHz

32MB RAGE MOBILITY graphics card (fully updated drivers)

160MB RAM

 

BTW - This is a laptop.

It might help to change your graphics hardware acceleration level.

You can adjust it in your device manager (click on the performance tab).

As of now it's on full, I'll try lowering it, but I would think that being on full would be the best option to prevent this kind of thing. Anyway, thanks for the advice.

 

BTW - It's funny as hell to be in the game and have it play perfect, then hit escape and have to lag your way to the save game button.

Didn't fix it. Please, any more suggestions? This would make the game a lot better if I could navigate easier.

Hmmm.... Does it occur when you play the game in safemode?

I have the same problem with the menus on my laptop. I also have a rage mobility card and the menu is really hard to navigate. The actual game is ok, except for when there are lots of enemies or it's outdoors and it goes really slow.

Not sure it's the lightsaber though because my menu is really slow when i press tab in game. Also multiplayer menu seems slightly faster despite having two sabers?!?

That's my case exactly. Do you have a Gateway Solo 2150? That's what I have.

NOTE: I downloaded the SoF2 MP test, and had the same problem to a much lesser extent. These are both Raven games, and I think they both use Q3. Hope this provides any more necessary information.

My laptop is Time (unfortunately), I think ATI cards just struggle with Open GL. I have tried using GLSetup to get better drivers but it won't work with win XP.

I had the same problem with the menus on my notebook (IBM ThinkPad). Since then I installed the newest drivers for my graphics chipset (it's the unsupported S3 Savage), and the menus performed perfectly.

From the other side, the game started to crash every time. Since then I can only play in safe mode (the game rocks even in those very low settings), but in Multiplayer crashing stil occurs.

So, I think you should get your newest driver for your machines. IBM makes new srivers in regular intervals, so I think your manufacturers do it also.

Yeah yeah i got the same prob only im on Open GL (updated) cause mine is a desktop. WTF is the problem:fett:
