Kaio23
I heard about this game at the time of E3 last May. Don't say it's the next EverQuest, except it's in space, just because Verant is developing it. This game sounds great and fresh. I thought the scope was a bit too big for me, but I just read something that's made me want to turn back. Most people, despite the fact that Verant is deliberatly trying to make it hard, are going to be a Jedi. Being a Bounty Hunter apparently looks to be a more interesting career path. "Targets may include computer-controlled NPCs or players who have incurred bounties because of breach of contract or criminal actions". . Nuff said. I just would love to be following an idiot who decided to piss off my employer (which would probably be player-controlled) who thought he could get into a shuttle in time. In EverQuest, CSI would probably get involved. In Galaxies, it's perfectly acceptable, so I get to put a cap in his ass. What about you guys? What do you plan to be if your going to nab this game? Breakin2'
Despite the difficulty, I'll still probably go the Jedi route. It's just too cool sounding.
Anox Kleevah
Damn power-gamers! Its supposed to be a RPG so lets play it that way! I think jedis should be removed from SWG, or at least be harder to reach!
Breakin2'
How is being a Jedi against the concept of an RPG? You'd be playing the role of a Jedi.....
Reb Starblazer
Well in the game your chances of being a Jedi are the same as in the quote/unquote REAL Star Wars Galaxy, which would be slim to nil. There will be very few people who will be Force Sensitive, and it will be completely random.
Ae0N
I too am waiting for this game to come out, simply amazing. I have aready signed up for the bounty hunters guild at swgalaxies.net I pity the jedi who will have a bounty on their head, for I will deal with them most swiftly. obijonkenobi
Where can I get the best and most (up to date) information about this game? Anox Kleevah
What about checking the official site here .... They have a really nice FAQ covering every aspect of the game
Pseudonym
Yeah, I can't wait either. I hope it's good, I remeber hearing about this game at last years E3 too so hopefully they've had enough time to perfect it. It would be a damn shame if they messed this game up. But I'm afraid it will cut into my JK2 time.
Prince Legolas
Would this game cost any money to play? That seems to be the only obsticle in me "definatly playing it to the point of loosing a social life".
Breakin2'
Yeah, it'll cost money. Probably $9.99 a month or so. Every online-only game charges money these days. Anyways, does anyone know a release date?
OOO
Well, no matter how awesome galexies sounds and how mush fun it might lokk there is one thing to remeber. ITS IN DEVELPMENT BY VERANT Having long since abandoned EQ due to the massive number of bugs, class nerfs, broken as intended features, unfinished quests, 4+ hour long camps, class nerfs, poor customer service, refusal to listen to its subscribers, ubber guilds, phat lewts, class nerfs, the holy trinity of warrior/cleric/enchanter, useless tradeskills, idiot spell drops, class nerfs, boat rides, broken boat rides, begs for ports, begs for binds, bad AI pathing...I could go on forever. In EQ Verant had a baby that WAY outgrew what they ever thought it would become. They where unprepared for it and there game has been broken form day one and is STILL broken to this day. Instead of fixing it they make excuses about how its unfixable and lie to its customers, only changing their tune when other online games have become popular and started to siphon away a trickel of their subscription base. Remeber this well, galaxies is in development by VERANT. VERANT! OOO
Ae0N
The really cool thing about this game is the exp packs they are planning, I can't wait for the release of the space and planetary travel. Combat in space with customize starships! :D
OOO
Ask yourself, why are they planning exp packs when the game hes yet to be released? OOO
Ae0N
Maybe because they want to finnish the core game and get it out to its fans. Lot's of MMORPGames do that, exp packs are the lifeline of a MMOGame, and to see that they aready have one planned means that they are well ahead of the ball. OOO
Or rather marketing wants to cash in on the star wars universe. Two words, cash cow. I am not advocating an anti galaxies stand point, but rather pointing out that the company behind making it might not produce the high quality star wars experience that we would all want. This could be do to poor design/implemintation or perhaps an unscrupulous marketing ploy to get peoples money. As a veteran of EQ (from week one) I know all of Verant and Sonys tricks of the trade... NewBJedi
Check out this video: http://gamespot.com/gamespot/filters/products/media/0,11100,468852,00.html "Though we didn't see too much of the game's ranged combat, we did see that Citizen Zero's melee combat will actually let you parry your opponent's attacks and even break your opponent's guard with a forceful blow." http://gamespot.com/gamespot/stories/news/0,10870,2857484,00.html I suggest reading the entire article. NewBJedi
I'd love to see a Deus Ex meets Star Wars. Now that would be an RPG/FPS worth playing.
Pseudonym
I hope the don't charge for playing it on multi-player. I don't have a credit card, and I don't plan on playing it that much. Besides, isn't it going to be host by sony station? They didn't charge for an account when I registered to play another game there.
Ae0N
They have aready stated in their FAQ that there will be a charge, they have yet to name a price. Most likely $9.99 a month is the norm for most MMORPG's.
Prince Legolas
I wonder how much it will cost per month for Australians? Also if the only servers will be over in the land of Yanks (USA) will Aussies be able to join it (considering we would need to pay money to do so) If so how would we pay for it? Besides credit card that is.
