Star Wars: Galaxies

I heard about this game at the time of E3 last May. Don't say it's the next EverQuest, except it's in space, just because Verant is developing it. This game sounds great and fresh. I thought the scope was a bit too big for me, but I just read something that's made me want to turn back. Most people, despite the fact that Verant is deliberatly trying to make it hard, are going to be a Jedi. Being a Bounty Hunter apparently looks to be a more interesting career path. "Targets may include computer-controlled NPCs or players who have incurred bounties because of breach of contract or criminal actions". :D. Nuff said. I just would love to be following an idiot who decided to piss off my employer (which would probably be player-controlled) who thought he could get into a shuttle in time. In EverQuest, CSI would probably get involved. In Galaxies, it's perfectly acceptable, so I get to put a cap in his ass. What about you guys? What do you plan to be if your going to nab this game?

I too am waiting for this game to come out, simply amazing. I have aready signed up for the bounty hunters guild at swgalaxies.net

I pity the jedi who will have a bounty on their head, for I will deal with them most swiftly. :fett:

Happy Hunting :fett::D

Yeah, I can't wait either. I hope it's good, I remeber hearing about this game at last years E3 too so hopefully they've had enough time to perfect it. It would be a damn shame if they messed this game up.

But I'm afraid it will cut into my JK2 time. bluetongue.gif

Well, no matter how awesome galexies sounds and how mush fun it might lokk there is one thing to remeber.

ITS IN DEVELPMENT BY VERANT

Having long since abandoned EQ due to the massive number of bugs, class nerfs, broken as intended features, unfinished quests, 4+ hour long camps, class nerfs, poor customer service, refusal to listen to its subscribers, ubber guilds, phat lewts, class nerfs, the holy trinity of warrior/cleric/enchanter, useless tradeskills, idiot spell drops, class nerfs, boat rides, broken boat rides, begs for ports, begs for binds, bad AI pathing...I could go on forever.

In EQ Verant had a baby that WAY outgrew what they ever thought it would become. They where unprepared for it and there game has been broken form day one and is STILL broken to this day. Instead of fixing it they make excuses about how its unfixable and lie to its customers, only changing their tune when other online games have become popular and started to siphon away a trickel of their subscription base.

Remeber this well, galaxies is in development by VERANT. VERANT!

Maybe because they want to finnish the core game and get it out to its fans. Lot's of MMORPGames do that, exp packs are the lifeline of a MMOGame, and to see that they aready have one planned means that they are well ahead of the ball. :D:fett:

Or rather marketing wants to cash in on the star wars universe.

Two words, cash cow.

I am not advocating an anti galaxies stand point, but rather pointing out that the company behind making it might not produce the high quality star wars experience that we would all want. This could be do to poor design/implemintation or perhaps an unscrupulous marketing ploy to get peoples money. As a veteran of EQ (from week one) I know all of Verant and Sonys tricks of the trade...

Check out this video:

"Though we didn't see too much of the game's ranged combat, we did see that Citizen Zero's melee combat will actually let you parry your opponent's attacks and even break your opponent's guard with a forceful blow."

I suggest reading the entire article.

I hope the don't charge for playing it on multi-player. I don't have a credit card, and I don't plan on playing it that much.

Besides, isn't it going to be host by sony station? They didn't charge for an account when I registered to play another game there.
